**Nintendo 3DS online services have shut down.** Here's what you should know:
- Current 3DS modding methods are not affected.
- The Internet access of homebrew applications (i.e. Universal-Updater) is not affected.
- Official online servers are already shut down, but alternate online servers (i.e. Pretendo Network) are currently a work-in-progress.
- Online shutdown does not affect access to the browser or to the Internet. The only thing that has shut down is Nintendo Network online services, such as game servers.

1. Launch the System Settings application
2. Navigate to `Internet Settings` -> `Connection Settings`
3. Click on your network connection slot and navigate to `Change Settings` -> `Next Page (right arrow)` -> `Proxy Settings`
4. Set "Proxy Settings" to "Yes", then click `Detailed Setup`
5. Set the Proxy Server to `ssloth.nintendohomebrew.com`, and the Port to `8080`
6. Click OK, then click Save
7. When prompted, click "Test" to perform the connection test
- The test should succeed
8. Click "OK" to continue

- Luma3DS configuration menu are settings for the Luma3DS custom firmware. Many of these settings may be useful for customization or debugging
- For the purpose of this guide, **leave these options on the default settings** (do not check or uncheck anything)
- If your console shuts down when you try to power it on, ensure that you have copied `boot.firm` from the Luma3DS `.zip` to the root of your SD card

This section will reset your system settings to its defaults. **Installed games and their save data will not be affected.** This is **required** to prevent known issues relating to extended memory mode and applets on some consoles.

This process will reset your Mii data. If you wish to save any Miis that you have created, either [generate a QR code](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/298/~/how-to-generate-a-qr-code%E2%84%A2-for-a-mii) for each Mii that you want to save, or make a backup of `SYSNAND CTRNAND:/data/<ID0>/extdata/00048000/f000000b` before following these instructions. You can restore this file to the same directory _after_ your console has gone through initial setup.

1. Power off your console
2. Press and hold (Start), and while holding (Start), power on your console. This will launch GodMode9
3. Navigate to `[1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND` -> `data` -> `<ID0>` -> `sysdata`
- The `<ID0>` will be a folder with a 32-character long name
4. Use the D-Pad to highlight `00010017`
5. Press (Right Shoulder) + (A) to bring up the folder options
6. Select "Copy to 0:/gm9/out"
7. Press (A) to continue
8. While still highlighting `00010017`, press (X) to delete it
9. Press (A) to confirm
10. Press (A) to unlock SysNAND (lvl1) writing, then input the key combo given
11. Once the file has been deleted, press (A) to continue
12. Press (A) to relock write permissions if prompted
13. Press (Start) to reboot your console
14. Your console will load into the initial setup menu
- This is expected behaviour. You have not lost any of your game data
15. Complete the initial setup menu by following the prompts on your console's screen

This occurs when you use multiple SD cards with the same 3DS and then merge the SD card contents together. Both are "valid", but the 3DS can only read one at a time.
You will need to determine which one contains your data. First of all, back up all of the folders, in case something goes wrong:

Now, delete all but one of the folders from your SD card. Generally, you will want to delete the **smallest** one(s), as the one with all your data will probably have more space occupied. You can compare which folder is occupying more space by right-clicking it and clicking "Properties":

- The other backup files are negligible in size and may be kept on your SD card for ease of access
