Two witnesses reported observing a Unidentified Flying Object.
The witnesses said the object looked like a big egg or oval shaped object and
stated it was as big as a small car.
The witnesses stated that the object followed them for a long time going in
front of them at times and then going back behind again.
They said the object then followed them all the way home at which time they
stop the car and ran in the house, the object then stop and hovered for a
while before it left the area. the distance the object followed them was
approximately or about 7 miles.
The witnesses stated the colors coming from the object appeared to look to
them like gold and white. The total duration is unknown. This case could be
related to CFN#:0338 because the objects in both of theses cases were shaped
like an oval or egg shaped.

GREEN FLASH LIGHTS SKY ACROSS FLORIDA
From News-Press Staff and Wirs Services
Residents from Southwest Florida to the East Coast og the state Thursday
reported seeing a green flash in the sky that lasted approximately 15 minutes,
officials said.
Callers reported the sighting between 10 and 10:30 P.M. to the Collier County
Sheriff's office, an official their said. The sighting was also reported in
Charlotte County, a Lee Sheriff's Department spokesman said. A short time
after the west coast sighting, residents of the east coast of Florida saw
a flare and then heard an explosion, according to a spokesman for the U.S.
Coast Guard office in Fort Pierce.
Some people even reported a loud sound similiar to thunder that shook houses,
the Coast Guard office reported. Unconfirmed reports from across the state
said the green streak across the sky was a meteorite which may have landed in
the Atantic Ocean. Officials from Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral
could not confirm that the sighting was a meteorte, but said the matter would
be investigated today. It was the second time in a week that residents along
Florida's Atlantic Coast reported seeing a flash of bright colored light
streak across the late night sky.
Last Friday, a streak of light seen in the night sky from Tampa to Jmaica
produced a similar effect and was apparently produced by debris from a Soviet
rocket passing through the Earth's atmosphere. A resident in the West Palm
Beach area described the Thursday night light as bright yellow, white another
in the area said the light started out red, turned to blue, then pink and
yellow.
Mike Palmeriti, an astronomer in Malabar, saw the light between 9:30 and 10:00
p.m. He believed it was a "very strong flash of lightning." But Harold
Povenmire, a professor at Brevard Community College and director of the
Florida Fire Bill Patrol, said he is certain the flash of light was caused by
a meteorite entering the atmosphere at 10:03 p.m..
He also stated the light was preceded by a sonic boom that "rattled things
around quite a bit."

Alaska National Guard officials in Anchorage Thursday reported that guardmen
living in Western Alaska made reports of a half-dozen sightings of
Unidentified Flying Objects complete with colored lights and spewing smoke.
Most of the sightings were made a few minutes before midnight on Tuesday. Of
the six sightings, one was dismessed as a Soviet helicopter operating off Big
Diomede Island in the Bering Strait, according to Lt.Mike Haller, information
officer for the guard.
One of the other sightings from Gambell on St. Lawrence Island in the Bering
Sea - could describe an Air Force AWACS radar surveillance aircraft, Haller
said. A guard member, relaying a report from another villager, said an
aircraft appeared west of Gambell at about 11:55 p.m. The object had a black,
round nose, he said, with an object on top of the fuselage.
An AWACS aircrft carries a disk-shaped radar dome on top of the fuselage.
But the Air Force, which operates two AWACS in Alaska, said neither plane was
in the air that night. Staff Sgt. Frank Singleton said the planes were flying
only day missions.
Other descriptions relayed to Guard officials consistently described bright
lights and clouds around the object, haller said. From Elim, on Norton
sound, a villager desribed an object with "very bright aqua and blue-green
lights" about the size of two football fields with egg-shaped clouds around
it.
The night sky was clear throughout the region. The sighting took place at
11:56 p.m. with the object spotted about 5 miles north of Elim. Three
separate groups of villagers saw it traveling to the southwest, haller said.
In Savoonga, a Guard member received a call from a neighbor at 11:50 p.m. He
estimated an object larger then a jet was flying at 30,000 feet with two
bright lights and smoke moving from front to rear.
In Tununak, about 125 miles west of Bethel on Nelson Island, a Guard member
described the object as a bright white light, such as an aircraft landing
light as seen through fog. The sky was clear, however . The object was
traveling from west to east over the Island and was estimated to be flying at
30,000 to 40,000 feet.
The reports follow two visual sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects by the
captain of a Japan Air Lines aircraft flying over Interior Alaska.

SUBJECT: NORTH EAST OHIO UFO FLAP - MUFON FILE: UFO1377
N.E. OHIO FLAP
by Richard P. Dell'Aquila
Richard P. Dell'Aquila and Dale B. Wedge, MUFON State Section
Directors for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties (Ohio)
have been investigating a series of sightings, beginning about March
4, 1988 and seemingly centered around the Perry Nuclear Plant, and the
CEI coal burning plant at Eastlake, both on the shore of Lake Erie,
east of Cleveland, Ohio.
March 4th was a clear, crisp night and the stars were clearly
visible, especially to the north over the lake where there are no city
lights. Venus and Jupiter were bright and in close proximity to each
other in the western sky. At about 6:30 P.M., S.B. (name and address
provided to MUFON) and her children were driving home to Eastlake
along the lake shore when they observed a large blimp-like object with
bright white lights at each end, hovering over the lake and rocking
end to end like a "teeter-totter." One light was brighter than the
other and was strobing. On arriving home, she asked her husband to
accompany her to the beach about 200 yards north for a closer view of
the object which they later described as "larger than a football held
at arm's length."
She and her husband walked onto the beach. The noiseless
object was gun metal gray and seemed to cause the ice on the lake to
rumble and crack loudly in an unusual way which frightened her. The
witnesses had to shout to be heard by each other, and were surprised
that no dogs were out barking as would have been expected.
After observing the object for a while, the couple became
concerned for the safety of their children in the car when the object
revolved slowly about 90 degrees, coming almost overhead (about 1/4
mile high) and pointing its "front" end down toward them. They drove
the children home and continued watching the object from their living
room window which faces the lake. A neighbor was phoned and she and
her son went to the beach, reporting the same thing. They took
photographs which did not turn out.
The object began to descend and the witnesses returned to the
beach, where it was now observed to have red and blue blinking lights
along its bottom edge. It emitted 5 or 6 noiseless, intensly bright
yellow triangular lights from its side. They intermittently hovered
around the larger object, darted and zig-zagged into the night sky at
velocities far in excess of known aircraft. Mr. B stated the
triangular objects were smaller than a one-seat Cessna and "crossed 50
mile stretches low over the ice in the snap of a finger." They were
said to be able to approach the shore, turn abrupt right angles due
east toward the Perry Nuclear Plant about 12 miles away, climbing
rapidly and returning again, all within several seconds. By this
time, a Coast Guard patrol vehicle had arrived on the beach in
response to S.B.'s several phone calls.
The triangular objects came closer to the shore, causing the
witnesses to become concerned that the lights on the Coast Guard
vehicle would attract the objects and the lights were turned off. The
triangles continued to fly off at high speed northward over the lake
and eastward toward the Perry Nuclear Plant. About an hour later,
they returned one at a time into the large ship, which then landed on
the ice. Several multi-colored lights now came on for about 5 minutes
(Page 1 of 3)
on the bottom of the object "in a wave like a movie theater sign" and
the brighter white light on the end began strobing red and white.
When these went off, the ice stopped making noise and everything
became "dead silent." The object could no longer be seen within about
a half hour and it was assumed to have gone below the surface. The
next day, unusually huge pieces of broken ice were observed in the
area of the landing.
The Coast Guard informed Mr. and Mrs. B the following day
that the Army and NASA, whom S.B. had also phoned, instructed them not
to investigate the matter further or go out on the lake in their
cutter to examine the ice in the area of the landing, since the matter
was "out of their league and out of their hands." They informed the
couple that all information was being forwarded to Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base and a facility in Detroit, Michigan. In response to a
Coast Guard inquiry, Wright-Patterson refused to confirm or deny any
interest in these activities.
On the next night, the same witnesses observed several
triangular objects over the lake for about 45 minutes. By the time
Coast Guard personnel arrived on the scene, the objects were gone.
On March 7, 1988, the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Lake County
News-Herald carried articles which attributed a series of reports of
large brightly lit objects over Lake Erie on the prior weekend to
several witnesses' misidentification of the planets Venus and Jupiter.
The newspaper accounts indicated that the Fairport Harbor Coast Guard
went to the area and saw a large bright object that seemed to dispurse
smaller, bright multi-colored objects. But when they called the local
air traffic controllers, they were "informed" that Jupiter and Venus
were in alignment and that the colors were the result of "spontaneous
gas emissions from the two planets." One article even attributed this
amazing explanation to a professor of astronomy at a local university.
On reading the articles, Dell'Aquila felt it was unlikely
that U.S. Coast Guard personnel, trained in navigation and
identification of basic celestial objects such as the planets, could
have made such a gross misidentification. Likewise, the statement
attributed to the professor of astronomy was equally unacceptable, in
that no other similar "spontaneous gas emission" from the planets
cited, of the necessary magnitude, had ever been noted, particulary on
this weekend.
In the course of the follow-up investigation by Dell'Aquila
and Wedge, a Coast Guard incident report was found (presently in
MUFON's possession) which states that Coast Guard personnel responded
to several calls reporting UFOs over Lake Erie on the night of March
4, 1988. When the Coast Guard arrived, the report confirms that a
large object "dispersed 3-5 smaller flying objects that were zipping
around rather quickly. These objects had red, green white, and yellow
lights on them that strobed intermittently. They also had the ability
to stop and hover in mid-flight." The incident report confirms Mr.
and Mrs. B's reports, including the abnormal cracking of the ice as
the object came closer to it and apparently landed. "The smaller
objects began hovering in the area where the large object landed
(about 1/4 mile east of the CEI power plant) and after a few minutes
they began flying around again." The report states that, "One of the
small objects turned on a spotlight where the large object had been,
but [the Coast Guard personnel] could not see anything, and then the
object seemed to disappear. Another object approached [these
personnel] approximately 500 yards offshore about 20 feet above the
ice, and it began moving closer as [the Coast Guard] began flashing
its headlights, then it moved off to the west."
(Page 2 of 3)
A subsequent Coast Guard report (also in possession of MUFON)
prepared after the sightings of the following night attributes the
sightings to misidentifications of the planets Venus and Jupiter and
says, "the flashing lights are gases in the atmosphere...Request
incident closed this unit." In response to a classified advertisement
placed by the investigators, other witnesses contacted Dell'Aquila and
Wedge, and have been interviewed as the investigation continues.
On the same night (March 4th) at about 10:00 P.M., and
continuing until approximately 10:30 P.M., C.H. (name and address
provided to MUFON) also reported a UFO near her home, which is a few
miles south of the lake shore and just east of the Perry Nuclear
Plant. C.H. was walking a puppy when she noticed the stationary
triangular object in the southeasterly sky. It was much brighter than
the moon, and seemed to upset the puppy, which she took back indoors.
Returning outdoors, she reported that the object began sequentially
flashing multi-colored lights, suspended in rows below the base of the
triangle. The witness responded by flashing her cigarette lighter and
the UFO's light pattern became more erratic. At one point, the
triangle revolved clockwise, turning its apex about 90 degrees to a
horizontal position, but still flashing the rows of light. After
several minutes, it turned back counter-clockwise as it simultaneously
accelerated away to the south at a high rate of speed, disappearing
behind some trees. No noise or odor was reported.
At about 10:30 P.M. that night T.K. (name and address
provided to MUFON), took a photograph in his back yard, within a few
miles of the Perry Nuclear Plant, showing a portion of a brightly lit
triangular object travelling across the sky (Photograph in possession
of MUFON). This object was later confirmed by Mr. and Mrs. B and C.H.
to be identical to the triangular objects they were also observing
about the same time a few miles away, and is also similar to one
reported to Phil Imbrogno as having been near the Indian Point Nuclear
Power Plant in New York State on the same night.
T.K. and his friend were outdoors on the night of March 4th,
observing the stars through his telescope. Venus and Jupiter were
reported to be in the western sky behind a stand of trees. While
looking southward through the telescope, out of the corner of his left
eye, T.K. noticed a bright, moving object in the sky. He and his
friend were awe-struck by the triangular object, but he did have the
presence of mind to take 3 photographs with a small "snapshot" type
camera loaded with Kodak 110 color film, with which they had intended
to photograph stars through the telescope. Only one photograph
turned out. It is the last in the series, taken while
panning ahead of the object, and shows the front portion of the
triangle. The object was described as about 3-4 inches tall at arm's
length and glowing an intense yellow/orange to white, with a bright
orange/red glow behind it. It seemed to pulse brighter and dimmer,
moving in a roughly southwesterly direction until it was obscured by
trees. As it moved, it accelerated, slowed and accelerated again. No
sound or smell was noted, although his dog had a strong reaction,
running in circles and tugging on T.K.'s sleeve, apparently in an
attempt to urge him away from the object. Total time of observation
was a few minutes.
Dell'Aquila and Wedge continue to receive reports of
additional UFOs over the same period, some supported by photographs,
as the sightings continue to the date of this writing. Supplementary
reports will be provided as the investigation of the flap progresses.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer
Monday, March 7, 1988
--------------------------
COZYING OF JUPITER, VENUS LIGHT UP SKY
Reports of unidentified flying objects are being made, and the most
likely explanation is the rare alignment of Jupiter and Venus.
Some Fairport Harbor residents reported seeing UFOs and large bright
objects hovering over Lake Erie over the weekend.
The Fairport Harbor Coast Guard went to the area and saw a large
bright object that seemed to disperse smaller, brightly colored objects.
But when they called the Greater Cleveland air traffic controllers, they
learned that Jupiter and Venus were in alignment and that the colors were
the result of spontaneous gas emissions from the two planets.
Its the celestial equivalent of a colorful floor show, says Charles
B. Stephenson, a professor of astronomy at Case Western Reserve
University.
The Earth's atmosphere helps create the color sensation, in the same
way that distant stars appear to twinkle.

SUBJECT: 3/88 LAKE ERIE UFO REPORT - MUFON FILE: UFO1379
The News-Herald
Monday, March 7, 1988
----------------------
SKY-GAZERS MISTAKE PLANETS FOR UFOS
Visitors from another planet have nothing to do with the UFOs which
were reported along the lake shore Friday and Saturday nights. But,
according to the Coast Guard, the planets Jupiter and Venus are involved.
When the US Coast Guard at Fairport Harbor received reports Friday
night of UFOs in the sky, it checked with area airports to learn what
their radar indicated.
"We thought it might be someone in trouble setting off flares," said
Petty Officer John Knaub. "So we investigated ourselves."
Coast Guard members saw the lights over the lake about 1/4 mile east
of the mouth of the Chagrin River. "But Lost Nation Airport advised us
that we were seeing the planets Jupiter and Venus, which are lined up
together in the sky. Apparently the gases in the atmosphere created the
appearance of smaller objects around them."
The UFO reports rolled in again Saturday night, when the sky
remained clear and was dominated by a full moon.
Knaub said the phenomena is visible around 9PM, as skygazers look
west along the lake from Fairport Harbor.

Time, a flat black helicopter was reported to fly at tree-top
level over the N.E. Ohio home of one of the witnesses whose
prior sighting has been filed with MUFON by Dale B. Wedge and
Rick Dell'Aquila, and recounted on Paranet (see 1395.UFO & 1396).
The helicopter was observed by at least 5 individuals from three
separate residences in the neighborhood, and was in sight for 2-
3 minutes.
The unmarked and unlit helicopter had a military
appearance as it approached slowly from the west, making a loud
sound peculiarly similar to that made by a small airplane rather
than a helicopter. The apparently windowless craft was observed
to fly eastward, before turning to the south and disappearing
over a line of trees. It apparently caused "snow" on a
television screen. The investigation of the continuing series
of UFO events in this area continues and updates will be
provided to MUFON and Paranet as they become available.

SUBJECT: BULLETIN ON ERIE UFO FILE: UFO1383
The Easlake UFO case has generated a great
deal of debate and controversy here in the Cleveland area.
The following are downloaded bulletins from FREENET a large,
free, local BBS in the Cleveland, Ohio area. These messages
are from the Skepticism SIG.

Subj: EASTLAKE UFO REPORTED BY COAST GUARD
In a reply to a recent question from Dale Wedge, Page
Stevens has mentioned that an unusual UFO event occurring over
Lake Erie in early March was the result of a misidentification
of the planets Jupiter and Venus which appeared close to each
other in the night sky. Page mentioned that a Coast Guard
report on the incident "agrees fully" with the Venus/Jupiter
hypothesis. The report has been submitted to an astronomer for
his expert opinion as to whether the Venus/Jupiter hypothesis
adequately explains all the phenomena described in the report
by the Coast Guard personnel, also reported by at least a half
dozen other independent witnesses.
The sightings, which have continued unabated for the
past month, have been reported by several independent
witnesses, one of whom took photographs. The case is being
investigated by Rick Dell'Aquila (ab114) and Dale Wedge (ae511)
The document confirms that members of the Coast Guard
saw a group of strange objects cavorting on and near the icy
surface of Lake Erie. A local astronomer attempted to explain
the sightings as resulting from the apparent conjunction of
Jupiter and Venus in the night sky, coupled with "spontaneous
gas emissions" caused by viewing the conjunction through the
Earth's atmosphere.
The incident involves a large blimp-like object, "larger
than the Goodyear blimp," which released up to a half dozen
triangular-shaped lights and objects, in close proximity to the
Perry nuclear power plant and Eastlake coal burning plant, and
multiple independent witnesses, apparent animal reactions, as
well as government documents, and hence qualifies for high-
priority.
The case is officially classified as a Close Encounter
of the Second Kind.
The Coast Guard report reads as follows:
COG: INFO COPIES
CPCD THE SAME ACTIVITY. THEY
WATCHED THE OBJECTS FOR APPROX. 1 HOUR BEFORE RPTNG THAT THE
LARGE OBJECT WAS ALMOST ON THE ICE. THEY RPTD THAT THE ICE WAS
CRACKING AND MOVING ABNORMAL AMOUNTS AS THE OBJECT CAME CLOSER
TO IT. THE ICE WAS RUMBLING AND THE OBJECT LIT MULTI-COLOR
LIGHTS AT EACH END AS IT APPARENTLY LANDED. THE ;LIGHTS ON IT
WENT OUT MOMENTARILY AND THEN CAME ON AGAIN. THEY WENT OUT
AGAIN AND THE RUMBLING STOPPED AND THE ICE STOPPED MOVING. THE
SMALLER OBJECTS BEGAN HOVERING IN THE AREA WHERE THE LARGE
OBJECT LANDED AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES THEY BEGAN FLYING AROUND
AGAIN. MOBILE 02 RPTD THAT THEY APPEARED TO BE SCOUTING THE
AREA. MOBILE 02 RPTD THAT 1 OBJECT WAS MOVING TOWARD THEM AT A
HIGH SPEED AND LOW TO THE ICE. MOBILE 02 BACKED DOWN THE HILL
THEY HAD BEEN ON AND WHEN THEY WENT BACK TO THE HILL, THE
OBJECT WAS GONE. THEY RPTD THAT THE OBJECTS COULD NOT BE SEEN
IF THEY TURNED OFF THERE LIGHTS. ONE OF THE SMALL OBJECTS
TURNED ON A SPOTLIGHT WHERE THE LARGE OBJECT HAD BEEN BUT
MOBILE 02 COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, AND THEN THE OBJECT SEEMED TO
DISAPPEAR. ANOTHER OBJECT APPROACHED MOBILE 02 APPROX. 500 YDS.
OFFSHORE ABOUT 20 FT. ABOVE THE ICE, AND IT BEGAN MOVING CLOSER
AS MOBILE 02 BEGAN FLASHING ITS HEADLIGHTS, THEN IT MOVED OFF
TO THE WEST.
3. THE CREWMEMBERS WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY ANY OF THE OBJECTS
pher William James commented as follows
on the views of contemporary "skeptics" among his Harvard
colleagues. His comments remain pertinent:
"There is included in human nature an ingrained naturalism
and materialism of mind which can only admit facts that are
tangible. Of this sort of mind the entity called "Science" is
the idol. Fondness for the word "scientist" is one of the notes
by which you may know its votaries; and its short way of killing
any opinion that it disbelieves in is to call it "unscientific."
It must be granted that there is no slight excuse for this.
Science has made such glorious leaps in the last 300
years...that it is no wonder if the worshippers of Science lose
their heads. In this very University, accordingly, I have heard
more than one teacher say that all the fundamental conceptions
of truth have already found by Science, and that the future has
only the details of the picture to fill in. But the slightest
reflection on the real conditions will suffice to show how
barbaric such notions are. They show such a lack of scientific
imagination that it is hard to see how one who is actively
advancing any part of Science can make a statement so crude.
Think how many absolutely new scientific conceptions have arisen
in our generation, how many new problems have been formulated
TV stations,the astronomy dept. at CWRU,etc. to report
these objects as UFOs.
In an April 7 listing on this bulletin board,Rick Dell'Aquila
gives the text of a U.S.Coast Guard report (dated March 4) which
he suggests can not be explained as resulting from a misidentifi-
cation of these planets.Although it contains an account of multi-
colored,noctural lights cavorting about and landing on the Lake
Erie ice,this report is devoid of the most important observation-
al details which one expects from highly trained observers.What
was their exact location at the time of these observations?Given
that location,what were the approximate azimuth and altitude of
these lights? Since the shoreline at Fairport Harbor runs almost
NE-SW,saying that the lights are out over the lake means that
they could lie anywhere from SW to NE as seen from near the
lakeshore.
Given this lack of detail,it is rather suggestive that the
CG people observed the bright light to "land" on the ice at
about the same time that Venus set i.e. went below the horizon
that evening.Nowhere in the report do the CG people say that
they saw the UFOs in addition to Venus and Jupiter i.e. if
this display took place low in the western sky,one might expect
them to have compared the brightness and positions of the UFOs
relative to these planets.It Jupiter were in
the western portion of the sky that evening. After the sight-
ing, Dell'Aquila and Wedge went out to the sight and did sight
these planets in the western sky. We even took some calcu-
latiions as to the location of the planets at the times that
witnesses were seeing the objects over the lake. From
our determination, we can state that the objects that were seen
over the Lake were not Venus and Jupiter. The witnesses that
evening knew where the planets were. The subject who reported
the objects was travelling EAST and was facing east when the
objects were seen to her left, the northern portion of the
sky, near the residence.
In regards to the Coast Guard, Mr. Sanduleak must only be
reading the report of the second evening. It would seem that
anyone being involved in the Coast Guard would have a basic
knowledge of the skies above us, since it is a tool that they
use to navigate the seas. I would also doubt that Coast
Guard personnel would mistake Venus and Jupiter as the culprit
being behind objects being seen to be approximately 500 yards
offshore about 20 feet above the ice. I have never known the
planets to do this. If you go to the sight of the incident,
there is no west to look at on the ice, since it is obscured
by the Eastlake Coal Buture fits
the description made by the witnesses at the scene of the
encounter.
Lastly, because we ensure secrecy of witnesses, it is
unfortunate that the Coast Guard will not allow us to inter-
view the Coast Guard personnel that were at the scene that
evening. Who has something to hide? Is it Sanduleak that is
frightened of a real incident or is the Coast Guard frightened
that they have given the smoking gun that could open up the
paper trail on a real phenomenon?

Subj: TO THE ASTRONOMERS RE: EASTLAKE UFO
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PROFESSIONAL SKEPTICS, RE: UFO SIGHTING
OVER LAKE ERIE OVER THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 4, 1988
It is understandable that a professional in any occupation
will have a reputation to preserve among his or her peers, and that
the desire to maintain that professional reputation will sometimes
require the professional to defend indefensable positions (e.g.
"C.Y.A.") from which he cannot otherwise extricate himself. It's
okay guys, I understand. You put out the Venus/Jupiter hypothesis
before the Coast Guard report was released and now you are stuck with
it for better or worse. I suspect that, being the professionals you
arein a civil manner. I suppose yours is at least a more
straightforward approach than that taken by the sysop of another
Freenet SIG who, after inviting UFO discussion, has elected to erase
all UFO uploads from his SIG and who, when all else fails, resorts to
name-calling as a rhetorical device. Well, taking your toys home
when you lose the game is a rather immature way to deal with
confrontation. Doctor, take an example from the skeptics on this SIG,
bravely sticking to their guns--going down with their ship, flags
waving--but proudly, stubbornly, sticking to their guns to the bitter
end. "Solution: Venus/Jupiter" period.
Guys: You are the experts. People look to you for answers.
If you teach, your students rely on you for accuracy. When you
publish, other experts rely on your objectivity and clarity of
analysis. Yet you ask us to accept the Venus/Jupiter hypothesis
primarily because you have put it forward as the "truth." Now that
the professional skeptics have made their final pronouncement, I
trust you will permit me to raise a few minor details, tie up some
loose ends and send along you ways to comfortably bury our heads back
in the sand again until the next time the planets start releasing
strobing multi-colort your hypothesis
and ignoring the "meaningless residue" for purposes of clarity.
However, the a priori assumption with which you approach this
particular subject (i.e. "UFOs do not represent any phenomena which
cannot be explained in prosaic terms.") renders your resulting
opinions on the matter largely irrelevant. Although your credentials
as Skeptics remain firmly intact, be honest enough to admit you
cannot adequately explain ALL aspects of the sighting. Don't push
sophistry.
I respectfully suggest that the Venus/Jupiter hypothesis is a
professional embarassment to you, since it completely ignores the
observed phenomena and fails to explain how the Coast Guard personnel
could have been so grossly fooled by known celestial objects. Guys,
it's okay to admit you just "don't know" what was over Lake Erie that
night. That diploma over your desk doesn't make you a vending
machine--you don't have to dispense a Pepsi every time someone drops
in their change and pulls your handle.

Well, I personally find the report of the sighting from the
Coast Guard to be rather interesting. As has beeway to repeat the event,
conclusions will be hard to come by.
Perhaps that is the real reason there isn't a lot of chatter
about these things?

COPY OF LETTER TO DR. LAMBE
Since Dr. Lambe, moderator of the SF Reviewers' SIG has seen fit
to delete all reference to UFOs from his board, I am uploading
this copy of the beginning portion of a rather lengthy upload to
the SF OPEN Forum Board. (Apparently Dr. Lambe has concluded
that his OPEN Forum was to be closed to matters pertaining to
Ufology. Thankfully, Page has not come to a similar conclusion.
Dear Dr. Lambe:
Thank you for your letter concerning your opinions on
UFOs, but I believe you are operating under a misperception.
I do not presume to know what UFOs ARE, because I really don't
know; but the evidence does establish beyond a reasonable doubt
that they are not ALL misperceptions or hoaxes. Indeed, the
reports that stem from IDENTIFIABLE sources do not, obviously,
fit the definition of an UNIDENTIFIED Flying Object.
UFOs have been reported by entirely competent witnesses
whose sightings have been corroborated byve arisen in our generation...Is this credible
that such a mushroom of knowledge, such a growth overnight as
this, CAN represent more than the minutest glimpse of what the
universe will really prove to be when adequately understood? NO!
Our Science is but a drop, our ignorance a sea..."
Almost a century later, James has been fully vindicated by
discoverys such as relativity, quantum mechanics, and associated
new concepts that overturned the previous scintific "truths."
Our scientific knowledge continues to grow exponentially.
The focus of your reply seems to be that UFOs do not exist
as such, but your opinion is based on a false assumption. The
issue of UFO existence cannot be dismissed on the basis of any
such a priori assumption, but must be premised upon
investigation. The evidence to date indicates that UFOs are
phenomena not completely understood by our present Science, but
which fall into one or several of the following categories:
1. Undiscovered space/time distortions or manipulations
that conform to the laws of physics, but require
extraordinary explanations;
2. Undiscovered space/time distortions or manipulations
that conform to undiscovered laws of physics;
3. Nonphysical products of individual or group mental
action, conforming to known and unknown psychological
principles, or
4. Something other than e person because I know you
are able to interpret the data even though we might come to different
conclusions.
I was therefore disappointed by the upload in which you made ad
hominem attacks on both Nick Sanduleak and myself because I think
they were unwarranted.
All either Nick or I ask is that everyone look at the evidence and
make their own decision about what it says.
Neither of us, unless you consider all scientists to be skeptics
is a "professional skeptic," and indeed I don't know what that term
might mean because as far as I am concerned a "professional" is a person
who makes his living by doing what he does, and I don't know of any
skeptic who does this. Even James Randi, although he also makes
some money from his skeptical lectures, is basically a professional
entertainer.
In Nick and my own case I doubt if either of us has made a total of
$200.00 in the past five years by lecturing on skeptical topics, and while
Phil Klass has published a few books on the subject of UFOs I doubt
if he has been paid any more than a few cents on the hour for the work
he has done.
I suspect the reason Nick, Randi, Phil, Paul Kurtz and myself spend
our time investigating claims of the paranormal is similar to the
reason you spend your free time investigating UFOs, because we want to
discover what is really going on even though for our efforI also resent your
statement that scientists are afraid to express their true
opinions in public, and are not willing to examine ALL the
reported phenomena and express their true opinions.
It is obvious that you don't understand the nature of
science at all when you state that we put forward a hypothesis
as "truth." A hypothesis is an educated guess based upon the
observations. It is something we throw out to be tested for
validity. Hypotheses that are not tested or hypotheses that can
not be tested are no good at all. We keep a very open mind when
we test our hypotheses, in fact, the way we go about testing
our hypotheses is to do everything we can think of to prove them
false! It is only after everyone who wants to has tried to
prove it false that we say that a hypothesis has any validity.
You are forgetting about the psychological nature of
human beings when you say that the Venus/Jupiter hypothesis
completely ignores the observed phenomena and fails to explain
how the Coast Guard personnel could have been so grossly fooled
by known celestial objects. People can be fooled by a lot less
than celestial objects. Let me tell you my own true experience
with a UFO. Last September I was driving down Bagley road in
the afternoon during a rain the firewords and realized that what I had
ks and realized that what I had
realy seen was fireworks exploding against the dark cloud.
If I had not turned into the park and seen the
fireworks, I would have always believed that I had seen a real
UFO and no one would have been able to change my mind with
mere reason and logic. Don't you think that there is a
possibility at least that the Coast Guard personnel may
have had a similar experience to mine?
Please try and keep an open mind about these things.

Subj: UFO's
I would like to bring up a point
for discussion. Now, if I make
any errors in assumptions, or
facts, PLEASE jump on them! I wish
to be accurate...
There are probably lots and lots
of reported UFO sightings in the
USA every year. There are also
a bunch of satalights up there that
do nothing but look down at us,
looking for, well, whatever...
Now, wouldn't you think that the
Govt would occasionally be looking
at an area at the same time a
UFO was sighted? If so, then why not
either coroborate (SP!) or shoot-down
the UFO sighting? (Not the UFO!)
Either, the govt already knows what
it is (Secret plane, Aliens, whatever)
and doesn't really want to talk
about it, or... What?
<*> Ken Kopin <*>
--------- several days, we have been concentrating on
our disagreements concerning the Eastlake UFO case. I would now
like to direct the focus of the debate to those aspects of the
case on which we can find some agreement.
1. The report of the Coast Guard was made by on-
duty personnel dispatched to the sighting area. It can
be presumed that these are competent individuals without
apparent motive to falsify a report that would cause them
embarassment or worse.
2. The report, taken at face value, contains
features which suggest something other than a
conventional aircraft or meteorological/astronomical
origin for the report.
3. Positions have been advanced by the
scientific "experts" which do not adequately address ALL
the features of the report, when taken at face value.
4. The primary Coast Guard report is supported
by civilian reports of the phenomena observed within the
same time-frame on the same night by witnesses who did
not and do not know each other and who were separated by
several miles from each other at the time of observation.
5. These reports are also supported by
photographic evidence.
thing unknown. Significantly, at no time did
the Coast Guard personnel believe they were watching a star or
planet of some sort, although this argument was much later
advanced as the solution. The Coast Guard personnel refused to
speculate further with regard to the true nature of the UFOs
they observed that night. They were frightened and behaved in a
defensive manner, hardly a reasonbable response to ordinary
astronomical objects.
Our legal system is premised upon the assumption that,
within certain restrictions, human observation and testimony can
be regarded as factual. Certain well-established rules exist to
test the credibility of witnesses and their testimony. Among
these are reputation, motivation, consistency with other
established facts, recency, multiplicity and independence of
witnesses, multiple methods of observation, etc. Applying these
tests to the Eastlake UFO case, the case stands up better than
many cases which have been won in courts of law across this
country.
Scientists are human too. They have been wrong before
and they will be wrong again. The responses to the results of
our investigation which Dale and I have received from the
"experts" on this board go beyond mere sympathy for the
ignorant. Ratheitioner resists challenges to his
religious beliefs.
This resistance can take the form of avoidance or denial
of evidence inconsistent with the established belief system or
illogical arguments advanced by scientists who may be otherwise
objective and analytically precise in their professional
opinions. A prime example on Freenet of the first approach, is
the regrettable avoidance response of Dr. Lambe, who has seen
fit to simply delete all reference to UFOs from the Science
Fiction SIG OPEN Forum after inviting UFO debate. An example of
the second response is the illogical Venus/Jupiter hypothesis
pronounced by the others as the final solution to the UFO
reported over Lake Erie the weekend of March 4, 1988.
Another typical response to challenges to an established
belief system is to ridicule those who challenge the beliefs
held (e.g. "These 'wackos' have made a foolish error in
observation, or are suffering from a delusion or illusion of
some sort"). If the physical scientists are correct that the
basis of the reports is in the observers, rather than anything
physically observed, then the internal consistency of the
independently witnessed observations with regard to the Eastlake
UFO case requires that the behavioral scientists reconsider the
validity of their own nternally consistent, across the
testimony of several independent witnesses, geographically
separated from each other and further supported by photographic
evidence, that it is virtually impossible that it is premised
upon any random delusion, illusion or hoax. It remains that the
observed phenomena were indeed a manifestation of physical
stimuli, as reported by the witnesses. We therefore can only
conclude that the Skeptics and physical scientists are incorrect
in their assessment of this case.
The status of our knowledge of UFOs to date, typified by
the Eastlake case, establishes that UFOs indeed constitute
genuinely new empirical observation(s) which physical science
cannot or will not adequately confront. This failure to fairly
confront the evidence is due to the fact that serious scientific
examination of the observed phenomena implicitly requires that
established scientific belief systems must be reconsidered and
possibly altered (dread) to provide basic new explanations,
concepts and scientific laws capable of explaining UFOs. This
is analagous to asking the Pope to convert to Atheism.

SUBJECT: LAKE ERIE SIGHTING - MUFON FILE: UFO1384
N.E. OHIO FLAP
by Richard P. Dell'Aquila
These objects had red, green white, and yellow
lights on them that strobed intermittently They also had the ability
to stop and hover in mid-flight." The incident report confirms Mr.

Subj: What was it?
Saturday night as reports of a green fire ball came in from the Eastern
Seaboard of the U.S. an object, thought to be a meteorite, crashed into a
womans' backyard in Fayetteville, Al in Talladega County. The woman said it
lit up the entire area as it fell. From T.V. the hole the object made
appeared to be app. 2 inches deep and 2-3 inches in radius. The ground around
it was charred and white ash was seen in the 'crater'. Anyone else have any
more detailed info on this event or of the Green fireball over the Eastern
U.S.?

SUBJECT: FYFFE, AL. SIGHTINGS NATIONAL ENQUIRER REPORT FILE: UFO1387
The following text file from National Enquirer....
SMALL SOUTHERN TOWN IS NAMED THE UFO CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Even the police chief swears he has seen a flying saucer in a small
southern town that has become the UFO capital of the world.
---------------------------
Worldwide attention focused on Fyffe, Alabama, population 1,400, recently
after police chief Junior Garmany and assistant chief Fred Works spotted a
crescent-shaped UFO a few miles west of town.
The officers followed the object for 12 miles, keeping in contact with other
departments in surrounding towns where reports of the UFO were flooding in.
SAME DISTANCE
"It seemed to always stay the same distance ahead of us", Garmany told
reporters.
On their return to Fyffe, the two officers pulled to the side of the road and
got out of their car.
Works said: "We saw an object low on the horizon which looked like an airplane
to begin with. It came right straight towards us and went straight overhead
at about 1,500 feet."
He added: "It appeared to have had three big floodlights or something on the
bottom of the object. The UFO never made a sound. It appeared oblong,
roundish".
A nearby Lickskillet resident was so frightened, he fired a shotgun at the
object as it passed overhead at treetop level.
Days later, two Grove Oaks residents, six miles north of Fyffe, watched a UFO
as "big as a house" hover over treetops near their home.
And Bonnie Bishop and her son reportedly saw a UFO in woods behind their
Silverhill, Alabama, home that did the strangest thing.
They claim a door underneath the object slid open and a large beam of light
lit up the ground as if it were searching for something.
Said Bonnie: "It never made a sound".

SUBJECT: LAS VEGAS PILOT KILLED CHASING SAUCER FILE: UFO1388
From the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Jan. 8, 1948
PILOT KILLED WHILE CHASING FLYING SAUCER
FORT KNOX, Ky, Jan 8 (INS) - Kentucky National Guard head-
guarters revealed today that a Louisville pilot killed in the
explosion of his plane yesterday afternoon was engaged in a hunt
for "flying saucers" at the time.
The victim was 25-year old Captain Thomas Mantell Jr., who was
returning from a training flight to Atlanta when he received
radio instructions to investigate the reported "saucer".
Captain Mantell was killed when his plane exploded and crashed
near Franklin, Kentucky. National Guard headquarters emphasized,
however, that in it's opinion there was no connection between the
planes explosion and the flying object it was seeking to
investigate.
Meanwhile, Godman Field commanding officer Col. Guy F. Hix
revealed that a group of Louisville scientists will join him in
watching the skies for a possible reappearance of the "flying
saucers" reported over Kentucky yesterday.
The colonel said he wanted to determine whether the object- or
objects-seen yesterday afternoon could have been a planet or some
other celestial object.
Col. Hix said that the air defense command at New York had
asked for a complete report of the "saucers and that he wanted
to check every possibility of determining their identity.
It was very definite that something was seen by Kentuckians.
For the reports came from too many different persons in scattered
localities to have been the result of someones imagination.

ANOTHER MAN SAYS HE SAW "SKY SAUCERS"
Portland, Ore., July 2. Richard Rankin, Palm Springs, California,
pilot, reports he saw 10 "flying saucers" over Bakersfield,
California, June 23.
"These planes were maybe 9,000 feet up and fairly fast, maybe
300 or 400 miles an hour," Rankin said yesterday.
"I first counted 10 of them in formation, going north. About
2:15 p.m. they returned on the reverse course, headed south, but
there were only 7 in the formation.
"I couldn't make out the number or location of their propellers
and couldn't distinguish any wings at all. They appeared almost
round. They looked just like pictures of the Navy's Flying
Flapjack."
Rankin said he hesitated to report what he saw until he read
that others had sighted the "saucers".
The navy has reported it's "Flying Flapjack" plane has never
left Connecticut.
Rankin, former Portland flyer with more than 7,000 hours
in the air, is a brother of the late Tex Rankin, stunt pilot.

SUBJECT: GOVERNOR OF IDAHO SEES FLYING SAUCER FILE: UFO1390
From the Las Vegas Review-Journal, July 3, 1947
MORE "FLYING SAUCERS" REPORTED
ARMY EXPERTS PUZZLED
Persons in six states, including the lieutenant governor of
Idaho, today reported that they had seen the mysterious "flying
saucers".
The projectiles, variously described as "too fast for an air-
plane and not fast enough for a falling star, not moving at all"
and "traveling at great speed," were reported seen again last
night streaking over Denver.
It was the first report of the "saucers" in almost a week.
Persons in Oregon, California, New Mexico, and Idaho reported
seeing verious versions of the unexplained projectiles last week.
<< Lieutenant Governor Donald S. Whitehead of Idaho said today
that he saw a strange comet-like object hanging in the western
sky on June 24. That was the day Kenneth Arnold, Boise, Idaho
first reported seeing the projectiles over south-eastern
Washington. >>
Their stories varied. Arnold had estimated the projectiles
speed at 1,200 miles an hour. Whitehead said the objects he and
three other witnesses saw "didn't move, but just seemed to go
below the horizon with the rotation of the earth".
<< WASHINGTON, JULY 3 (UP) Army research experts can't find
an explain the "flying saucers" reported in several states. But
they are investigating, they said.
They are even considering the possibility, however remote,
that some foreign power may have something to do with the flying
discs.
The army air forces checked all of their research authorities
and contractors. But none of them knew or could suggest anything
concrete about the saucers. >>
At Denver, Henry Martin and Walter Harrod said they caught a
brief glimpse of a group of "bright objects" flying at about
5,000 feet last night. Martin said they looked like coffee can
tops. They were traveling in a south-westerly direction, he said.
State Highway Patrol Sergeant David Menary, of San Francisco's
Golden Gate bridge detail, reported seeing about a dozen bright
metal objects "about the size of a football" whizz over San
Francisco Bay yesterday and fall into the sea.
Dick Rankin, former Portland, Oregon flyer said he saw the
discs high over Bakersfield, California going from 300 to 400
miles an hour June 23. There were 10 of them in formation, flying
north, he said.
Three metalic gleaming were reported seen for the first time
in Southern California by Mrs. Ernest Michel of Beverly Hills and
her daughter, Marian. "They were going around and around in a
circle," Mrs. Michel said. "We watched them for 10 minutes before
they disappeared."
Tiny, meteor-like tails were "clearly discernible," she said.

SUBJECT: SAUCERS SPOTTED IN 36 STATES FILE: UFO1391
From the Las Vegas Review-Journal, July 7, 1947
FLYING SAUCERS HAVE U.S. "NUTS" SEEN EVERYWHERE
SAN FRANCISCO, July 7 (AP) - From one end of the country to
the other, new reports of disc-like "flying saucers" skimming
through the skies today added to the mystery which has baffeled
the nation since June 25.
There were no satisfactory explaination of the phenomenon. The
saucers were first reported seen in the state of Washington on
June 25. Then persons in other western states said they had seen
them. The peak came over the July 4 holiday, when they were first
reported seen east of the Mississippi.
The latest tabulation showed the mystery objects had been
reported seen in 36 states, the District of Columbia and in
Canada.
Yesterday they were reported seen in more than a dozen states
and in south-western Ontario.
An aerial patrol by the Oregon National Guard failed to sight
one of the objects. The guard planned to send a plane today to a
spot near St. Maries, Idaho, where a woman said 10 persons saw
eight of the discs disappear in timber on July 3.
Kenneth Arnold, businessman-pilot of Boise, Idaho, first
reported seeing the discs. He said he saw 9 flying in formation
at 1,200 miles an hour over the Cascade mountains. Other observers
have given the objects varing speeds. In at least one case they
seemed to be suspended in the air.
KNOCKS ONE DOWN
BOZEMAN Mont., July 7 (UP) - A P-38 pilot reported today that he
knocked down a "flying saucer" - he called it a "flying yoyo" -
yesterday over the Tobacco Root mountains in Western Montana.
Vernon Baird, Los Angeles, pilot for the Fairchild Photo-
grammetric Engineer's company, said he tangled with the "yoyo"
while flying a P-38 for the firm. The company is mapping the area
between Helena and Yellowstone Park for the reclamation bureau.
Baird said he and his photographer, George Suttin, Los Angeles
were flying 360 miles an hour at 32,400 feet when he turned to
check an oil distribution mechanism.
"There about 100 yards behind me was the yoyo," Baird said.
"It was a pearl-gray clam-shaped airplane, with a plexiglass
dome on top. It was about 15 feet in diameter and about 4 feet
thick".
The curious yoyo overhauled the P-38 and Baird took evasive
action.
"The yoyo got caught in my propwash and the thing came apart
like a clamshell. The two pieces spiraled down somewhere in the
Madison Range.
Baird said that after the yoyo fell apart he looked around and
saw several of them darting around "like a batch of molecules
doing the rumba."
Baird said he was too busy handeling his plane to notice if
there was a man inside the gadget.
His photographer didn't think about his camera until it was
too late to get a picture, Baird said.
PORT COSTA, Calif., July 7 (AP) - The phenomenon of the flying
saucers may be linked in some mysterious manner with the economic
trend, Ralph Dinsmore reported today.
Soberly, he noted that he had observed a formation of flying
saucers in the vicinity of Mt. Diablo: "The middle saucer seemed
to have an object on it that looked like a cup of coffee.
Traveling behind the one with the coffee was another with a sign
that said 5 cents. As I watched, the 5 cent sign seemed to give
way to a 10 cent figure and at the same time the amount of
coffee in the saucer cup grew considerably less. The sugar shrank
noticably and the cream disappeared entirely."
Three San Leandro policemen said they saw a flying saucer last
night. It approached from the west, they related, hovered over
San Leandro at a height of 10,000 feet for half an hour, then
disappeared. Oakland and San Leandro police received several
telephone calls during this period from residents who declared,
they too, had seen the flying aerial platter.
Private First Class Robert O'Hara of Hamilton Field, Marin
County said he saw a 40 foot disc over the field. He estimated
it's altitude at 6,000 feet.
Frank Tylman, a construction engineer and WWI flyer, said he
and his son, Danny, 9, saw a saucer at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, 2 miles
west of Pittsburg, Contra Costa County.
"It was shooting towards Mt. Diablo," Tyman stated. "It
revolved in a counter-clockwise direction, as he viewed it.It was
probably 3,000 feet up and appeared to move faster than a jet
plane. It might have had the span of a P-80, was silver in color,
circular in shape, and had difinite thickness, being curved
outward on both upper and lower surfaces. It left no smoke or
vapor behind it."
BY UNITED PRESS
Army pilots went aloft today for another search for the
mysterious "flying saucers" now reported seen in 31 states and
parts of Canada.
Equiped with telescopic cameras, 11 army planes searched the
Pacific Northwest yesterday without finding any trace of the
flying discs which had been reported over scores of communities
the preceding two days.
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 4 (AP) - A flight of about 30
flying saucers was observed at 10:35 a.m. (PST) today over the
San Carlos area, Stanley Miramon and his mother, Mrs. Marie
Maranta reported.
Miramon said the group circled over one spot northeast of San
Carlos, at an altitude of 2,000 feet. They were round, silvery in
color, and "about the size of an automobile."
He said a two engine transport plane was in the same general
area and it appeared the pilot saw the "things" and headed toward
them.
Miramon said he ran into the house to telephone a newspaper,
and by the time he returned to the street the objects were gone.
NEW TWIST
PALMDALE, Calif. July 7 (UP) - Mrs. Amy Herdliska reported a
new twist on the nation's mysterious "flying saucers" today.
She told the sheriff's office she saw a "parent disc" leading
five smaller discs over the mountains. The smaller ones, she said
seemed to fly away from the larger disc then return and seemed to
be absorbed by it. Like baby chicks hiding under a mother hen's
wings.
SONOMA, Calif., July 7 (UP) - General H. H. (Hap) Arnold, head
of the army air forces during WWII, said today the discs could be
a development of United States scientisits not yet perfected.
He also speculated that they could be the development of some
foreign scientists and were operating out of control.
The general's third guess was just plain jet fighting planes.

SUBJECT: CALIFORNIA SHERIFF SPOTS FLYING SAUCER FILE: UFO1392

SAUCER TALES
WAGS HAVE FIELD DAY WITH DISKS
By United Press
Flying saucers whirled back and forth, up and down and out to
sea over Southern California today, sporting like fish and giving
off low whistles.
Waggish skywriters added to the excitement by painting two
circles and the word saucers in mile-long letters.
<< AVENAL, Calif., July 8 (UP) - Deputy Sheriff Weldon Sams was
driving through a quiet residential area here Sunday when a
flying disk whizzed past his windshield.
He stopped. A second flying saucer came even closer. It was
about the size of a pie pan.
He looked around. It was a pie pan.
The deputy sheriff said he found he was in the middle of a
family argument. A young housewife was having a dispute about
who would do the dishes.
The argument led to crockery throwing, the husband fled the
house - and Sams ended up in the middle. >>
One spinning platter was reported to have crashed in a grove
of almond trees near Lancaster.
"Fifteen or 20 trees were set afire" a witness" said.
Ranch owner Fritz Godde said it wasn't so.
The saucers looked like "silvery eggs in a straight line" to
Redlands truck driver H.J. Stell who saw eight of them swishing
towards March Field at 6:12 a.m. yesterday.
Riverside Rancher R.V. Allen said "a whole school" of the
objects passed overhead near Ontario.
"They played about in the air like perch do in water," he said.
Platters sailed over A.B. Runner's Ontario home "so low I could
hear the motor."
Evelyn Keel said 15 persons saw 2 saucers yesterday morning
from the back lot of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayers Culver City studio.
"They kept circling higher and higher until they disappeared,"
she said. "You may think I'm nuts."
Jerry McAdams said he saw a disc "big as a house" flying north
over Coldwater Canyon Park, Beverly Hills, yesterday afternoon.
"It seemed to give off a low whistle as it disappeared, he said.
One man said he saw 6 disks "the size of small plates" hover
over a power line when he went outside to find the cause of
static in his radio.
Hall Hibbard, Lockheed vice-president in charge of engineering
said he knew of no secret aviation projects which would have the
slightest bearing on the disks.
"They're either reflections from planes or the result of mass
hysteria and the desire of various persons to get their names in
the paper," he said.

SUBJECT: PILOTS SEE ALABAMA FLYING SAUCER FILE: UFO1393
From the Las Vegas Review-Journal, July 25, 1948
VET PILOTS REPORT SEEING
MYSTERY SHIP IN ALABAMA
ATLANTA, Ga., July 24 (UP) - Two Eastern Airlines pilots reported
today that their plane last night passed a tremendous wingless
aircraft that shot a 40 foot flame out it's back end and traveled
between 500 and 700 miles an hour.
Captain Clarence Chiles and his co-pilot, John B. Whitted, told
of seeing the fantastic airship and said it looked like a B-29
fuselage "blown up about 4 times."
The aircraft was brilliantly lighted and had two decks of big,
square windows, they claimed. It passed within several hundred
feet of the pilot's DC-3 and then shot up in the clouds, they
said.
"We were crusing about 20 miles southwest of Montgomery, Alabama"
said Captain Chiles who was an ATC ferry pilot for 4 years during
the war.
"We looked out of the right side of the cockpit and saw a
tremendous light. The first thing that came to my attention was
the long stream of flame coming out of the rear end of the plane,
or whatever it was."
"Then I noticed the two rows of square windows-it was a man-made
thing, alright. We couldn't see any people aboard. It was
traveling too fast for that."
"The aircraft seemed to be about 4 times the circunference of a
B-29 fuselage, but it was only a little longer," Chiles said.
"There were no wings whatsoever."
"The plane passed us on our right, then, as if the pilot had seen
us and wanted to avoid us, it zoomed up into the same cloud it
had come out of. A 40 foot flame shot out it's rear end. A
luminous glow, like a giant flourescent light, ran along the
belly of the thing."
Whitted, who said he had seen the air forces's best jet planes
not on the secret list, estimated it's speed as much faster than
he had seen before.
"I'd say that when it shot up into the clouds it was going
between 500 and 700 miles an hour," Whitted said. "I've seen
real shooting stars and meteors-they look pretty close when you
are a pilot-but I've never seen anything like this."
Whitted added that as a B-29 pilot over Japan he had looked
kamikaze suicide planes in the face and been attacked by "balls
of fire"-Japanese jet planes.
As the aircraft passed them, they said, their comparatively small
DC-3 fluttered in the "propwash or "rocket-wash". The pilots said.
"It sent out tremendous shock waves."
The brilliant light of the airship and the flame of it's
propellant brought "lightning blindness" to their cockpit, the
pilots said, they had to turn up their instrument lights to read
them.
KENNETT SQUARE, Pa., July 24 (UP) - C.L. McKelvie, Columbus, Ohio
a passenger in an Eastern Airlines plane whose pilot reported
seeing a phantom ship in the skies near Montgomery. Alabama, said
today he saw a definite light "but no space ship" at the time.
WASHINGTON, July 24 (UP) - Air Force officials said today they
could not throw any light on the mystery of a tremendous wingless
aircraft reported seen over the vicinity of Montgomery, Alabama.
An air firce spokesman said that "obviously" this country has no
plane resembling what two Eastern Air Lines pilots described as
a double decked, jet propelled, wingless transport shooting a 40
foot flame out the back end.
They suggested the possibility that it might have been a civilian
version of the Boeing C-97 transport. A plane of this type is
believed to be undergoing tests now somewhere in the south.
SEATTLE, July 24 (UP) - William M. Allen, president of the Boeing
Airplane Company, said today he was "pretty sure" the giant
aircraft reported seen by the two Eastern Air Lines pilots last
night was "not one of our planes."

SUBJECT: 3/88 WITNESSES INTERVIEWS, LAKE ERIE FILE: UFO1395
N.E. OHIO FLAP by Richard P. Dell'Aquila
Richard P. Dell'Aquila and Dale B. Wedge, MUFON State Section
Directors for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties (Ohio) have
been investigating a series of sightings, beginning about March 4, 1988
and seemingly centered around the Perry Nuclear Plant, and the CEI coal
burning plant at Eastlake, both on the shore of Lake Erie, east of
Cleveland, Ohio. March 4th was a clear, crisp nigh t and the stars were
clearly visible, especially to the north over the lake where there are no
city.
lights. Venus and Jupiter were bright and in close proximity to each
other in the western sky. At about 6:30 P.M., S.B. (name and address
provided to MUFON) and her children were driving home to Eastlake along the
lake shore when they observed a large blimp-like object with bright white
lights at each end, hovering over the lake and rocking end to end l ike a
"teeter-totter." One light was brighter t han the other and was strobing.
On arriving home, she asked her husband to accompany her to the beach about
200 yards north for a closer view of the object which they later described
as "larger than a football held at arm's length." She and her husband
walked onto the beach. The noiseless object was gun metal gray and seemed
to cause the ice on the lake to rumble and crack loudly in an unusual way
which frightened her. The witnesses had to shout to be heard by ea ch
other, and were surpr ised that no dogs were out barking as would have been
expected.
After observing the object for a while, the couple became concerned for
the safety of their children in the car when the object revolved slowly
about 90 degrees, coming almost overhead (about 1/4 mile high) and pointing
its "front" end down toward them. They drove the children home and
continued watching the object from their living room window which fac es
the lake. A neighbor was phoned and she and her son went to the beach,
reporting the same thing. They took photographs which did not turn out.
The object began to descend and the witnesses returned to the beach, where
it was now observed to have red and blue blinking lights along its bottom
edge. It emitted 5 or 6 noiseless, intensly bright yellow triangular
lights from its side. They intermittently hovered around the larger
object, darted and zig-zagged into the night sky at velocities far in
excess of known aircraft. Mr. B stated the triangular objects we re smaller
than a one-seat Cessna and "crossed 50 mile stretches low over the ice in
the snap of a finger." They were said to be able to approach the shore,
turn abrupt right angles due east toward the Perry Nuclear Plant about 12
miles away, climbing rapidly and returning again, all within several
seconds. By this time, a Coast Guard patrol vehicle had arrived on the
beach in response to S.B.'s several phone calls. The triangular objects
came closer t o the shore, causing the witnesses to become concerned that
the lights on the Coast Guard vehicle would attract the objects and the
lights were turned off. The triangles continued to fly off at high speed
northward over the lake and eastward toward the Perry Nuclear Plant. About
an hour later, they returned one at a time into the large ship, which then
landed on the ice. Several multi-colored lights now came on for about 5
minutes
(Page 1 of 3) on the bottom of the object "in a wave like a mo vie theater
sign" and the brighter white light on the end began strobing red and white.
When these went off, the ice stopped making noise and everything became
"dead silent." The object could no longer be seen within about a half hour
and it was assumed to have gone below the surface. The next day, unusually
huge pieces of broken ice were observed in the area of the landing.
The Coast Guard informed Mr. and Mrs. B the followi ng day that the Army
and NASA, whom S.B. had also phoned, instructed them no t to investigate
the matter further or go out on the lake in their cutter to examine the ice
in the area of the landing, since the matter was "out of their league and
out of their hands." They informed the couple that all information was
being forwarded to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and a facility in
Detroit, Michigan. In response to a Coast Guard inquiry, Wright-Patterson
refused to confirm or deny any interest in these activities. O n the next
night, the same witnesses observed sever al triangular objects over the
lake for about 45 minutes. By the time Coast Guard personnel arrived on
the scene, the objects were gone. On March 7, 1988, the Cleveland Plain
Dealer and Lake County News-Herald carried articles which attributed a
series of reports of large brightly lit objects over Lake Erie on the prior
weekend to several witnesses'misidentification of the planets Venus and
Jupiter. The newspaper accounts indicated that the Fairport Harbor Coast
Guard went to the area and saw a large bright object that seemed to
dispurse smaller, bright multi-colored objects. But when they called the
local air traffic controllers, they were "informed" that Jupiter and Venus
were in alignment and that the colors were the result of "spontaneous gas
emissions from the two planets." One article even attributed this amazing
explanation to a professor of astronomy at a local university. On reading
the articles, Dell'Aquila felt it was unlikely that U.S. Coast Guard
personnel, trained in navigation and identification of basic celestial
objects such as the planets, could have made such a gross
misidentification. Likewise, the statement attributed to the professor of
astronomy was equally unacceptable, in that no other similar "spontaneous
gas emission" from the planets cited, of the necessary magnitude, had ever
been noted, particulary on this weekend. In the course of the follow-up
investigation by Dell'Aquila and Wedge, a Coast Guard incident report was
found (p res ently in MUFON's possession) which states that Coast Guard
personnel responded to several calls reporting UFOs over Lake Erie on the
night of March 4, 1988. When the Coast Guard arrived, the report confirms
that a large object "dispersed 3-5 smaller flying objects that were zipping
around rather quickly. These objects had red, green white, and yellow
lights on them that strobed intermittently. They also had the ability to
stop and hover in mid-flight." The incident report confirms Mr. and Mrs. B
's reports, including the abnormal cracking of the ice as the object came
closer to it and apparently landed. "The smaller objects began hovering in
the area where the large object landed (about 1/4 mile east of the CEI
power plant) and after a few minutes they began flying around again." The
report states that, "One of the small objects turned on a spotlight where
the large object had been, but [the Coast Guard personnel] could not see
anything, and then the object seemed to disappear. Another ob ject
approached [these personnel] approximately 500 yards offshore about 20 feet
above the ice, and it began moving closer as [the Coast Guard] began
flashing its headlights, then it moved off to the west."
(Page 2 of 3)
A subsequent Coast Guard report (also in possession of MUFON) prepared
after the sightings of the following night attributes the sightings to
misidentifications of the planets Venus and Jupiter and says, "the fla
shing lights are gases in the at mosphere...Request incident closed this
unit." In response to a classified advertisement placed by the
investigators, other witnesses contacted Dell'Aquila and Wedge, and
have been interviewed as the investigation continues. On the same night
(March 4th) at about 10:00 P.M., and continuing until approximately 10:30
P.M., C.H. (name and address provided to MUFON) also reported a UFO near
her home, which is a few miles south of the lake shore and just east of
the Perr y Nuclear Plant. C.H. was walking a puppy when she noticed the
stationary triangular object in the southeasterly sky. It was much
brighter than the moon, and seemed to upset the puppy, which she took back
indoors. Returning outdoors, she reported that the object began
sequentially flashing multi-colored lights, suspended in rows below the
base of the triangle. The witness responded by flashing her cigarette
lighter and the UFO's light pattern beca me more erratic. At one point,
the triangle revolved clockwise, turning it s apex about 90 degrees to
a horizontal position, but still flashing the rows of light. After several
minutes, it turned back counter-clockwise as it simultaneously accelerated
away to the south at a high rate of speed, disappearing behind some trees.
No noise or odor was reported. At about 10:30 P.M. that night T.K. (name
and address provided to MUFON), took a photograph in his back yard, within
a few miles of the Perry Nuclear Plant, showing a portion of a brightly lit
triangular object travelling across the sky (Photograph in possession of
MUFON). This object was later confirmed by Mr. and Mrs. B and C.H. to be
identical to the triangular objects they were also observing about the same
time a few miles away, and is also similar to one reported to Phil
Imbrogno as having been near the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in New
York State on the same night. T.K. and his friend were outdoors on the
night of March 4th, observing the stars throu gh his telescope. Venus and
Jupiter were reported to be in the western sky behind a stand of trees.
While looking southward through the telescope, out of the corner of his
left eye, T.K. noticed a bright, moving object in the sky. He and his
friend were awe-struck by the triangular object, but he did have the
presence of mind to take 3 photographs with a small "snapshot" type camera
loaded with Kodak 110 color film, with which they had intended to
photograph stars through the telescope. Only one photograph turned out. It
is the l ast in the series, taken while panning ahead of the object, and
shows the front portion of the triangle. The object was described as about
3-4 inches tall at arm's length and glowing an intense yellow/orange to
white, with a bright orange/red glow behind it. It seemed to pulse
brighter and dimmer, moving in a roughly southwesterly direction until it
was obscured by trees. As it moved, it accelerated, slowed and accelerated
again. No sound or smell was noted, although his dog had a strong reaction
, running in circles and tugging on T.K.'s sleeve, apparently in an attempt
to urge him away from the object.
Total time of observation was a few minutes. Dell'Aquila and Wedge continue
to receive reports of additional UFOs over the same period, some supported
by photographs, as the sightings continue to the date of this writing.
Supplementary reports will be provided as the investigation of the flap
progresses.

Details:
This sighting took place on October 1, 1990, at 2:30 am, near Lake Tamarack. A
report was filed with the police department of Hardyston, New Jersey. At
present, three witnesses have come forward describing this event. What follows
is an account of the event by Mr. and Mrs. L. McR. Mrs. L McR. said she looked out
the window on her way to bed at about 2:30 am and saw an object hovering over
the mountain near her Lake Tamarack home.
"I thought it was a helicopter. It looked like the top light was pulsing.
There were lights below it, but they did not move."
When the object kept hovering for about five minutes, she called her husband to
come and look at it. The two used a telescope and saw the object again.
Mr. McR. stated, "It was a streak of green at an angle with a cut out square at
the bottom center. It was pulsing."
The couple then called a neighbor, who also saw the object. The couple watched
the object for about 15-20 minutes through the telescope as it traveled slowly
thru the sky at the same speed as the stars around it and then disappeared
behind some trees. Mr. McR. explained that " the object appeared stationary to
the naked eye, but the telescope showed it was moving slowly. I have never seen
anything like that before. It was definitely not an airplane."
Walter Zamorski of the National Weather Service, when questioned, stated that
the weather on the morning of October 1, was extremely clear, and the sighting
might have been a weather satellite. No further information has materialized
since the October sighting.

This sighting took place on December 5, 1990, at approximately 8:35 pm.
The witness was driving home, heading west on East Hanover Avenue. There were
other cars on the road, traveling in both directions (there are two lanes in
each direction). Approximately at 20 degrees to the right of the witness's
path lay a patch of foggy luminosity, about 45 degrees above the horizon. The
patch disappeared after a few seconds, to be replaced by a very large orange
cloud, illuminated from inside. It was very bright, then dimmed briefly in
intensity.
The cloud very quickly flared back to the original intensity for a short while
longer, flickered once, and went dark. A dark patch in the sky could be seen
marking where the cloud had been. The entire sighting lasted for a little
over a minute. The sky this night was clear, with stars easily seen. other
motorists did not seem to stop or slow down. There were no fires in the area,
as the fire trucks were in their garages that night. The area under where the
cloud was is residential, with no major power lines or towers in the vicinity.
There were no reports of explosions or the like.
If anyone has information on this particular formation, or others like it,
please send the information to the Mutual UFO network, 103 Oldtowne Road,

SUBJECT: NY TIMES ON TASS REPORT, RE: UFOs FILE: UFO1404
New York Times, Thursday, October 12, 1989
__________________________________________
TASS'S THRILL: JOKING OVER UFO REPORT
By Eleanor Blau
The report by the Soviet press agency Tass that lanky, three-eyed
creatures took a stroll through a Soviet park last month has caused
such reverberations in the United States that they have bounced back to
Tass itself.
The agency reported Tuesday that major American television networks and
newspapers, which it said typically avoid stories about unidentified
flying objects, "played up the space adventure, frequently poking fun
and suggesting that the beings from outer space might be a result of
overzealous glasnost."
The Tass report, written by an American working for the agency, did not
sound resentful. It quoted Edwin Diamond a New York Magazine media
critic who criticized what he called the story's shallowness, saying,
"What did the Academy of Science think? Where are the pictures?"
Ant it quoted Yervant Turzian of the Cornell University Astronomy
Department, who said fellow academics regarded the story as a joke.
DRAWING OF CREATURE IS BROADCAST
"Given the physical parameters of the universe, the possibility of life
on other planets is high," he told Tass. "But the vast majority of
these reports can be explained by such logical phenomena as unconven-
tional aircraft in the sky or artificial satellites."
On the other hand, Tass found that "A Current Affair," the syndicated
news and entertainment show, was taking the report seriously enough to
plan on sending a film crew to Voronezh. That is where Tass originally
reported that three children had said they saw aliens emerge from a
ball, wearing silvery overalls.
Last night, Soviet television viewers saw a picture of one of the
creatures on the main nightly news program, "Vremya," in the form of a
scribbled drawing by one of the children. It showed a smiling stick
figure inside a glowing two-legged sphere.
Vremya sounded more skeptical than the original Tass report, but it
offered without comment an interview with Vasya Surin, one of the pur-
ported witnesses.
"HE DIDN'T HAVE A HEAD"
"We were scared," says Vasya, who appeared to be about 11. "It hovered
over this tree. Then the door opened and a tall person of about three
meters looked out. He didn't have a head, or shoulders either. He just
had a kind of hump. There he had three eyes, two on each side and one
in the middle."
Vasya said the alien had two holes instead of a nose, and could not
turn its head, so it had to swivel its middle eye.
But "Vremya" cast some doubt on the reports of the sighting, noting for
instance, that there were no adult witnesses, even though a large
apartment house overlooked the site.
Since the first UFO sightings in the 1940's, spaceships have been
described as sausages, cigars, balls, bananas, crescents, round straw
hats, eggs, mushrooms, disks and, especially, saucers. But in the
1980's "Saucers are out; boomerangs are in," said Jim Speiser, a com-
puter expert in Scottsdale, Ariz. He founded a national UFO computer
network in 1986 because he thought there should be an exchange of in-
formation instead of disputes among people who reacted variously to UFO
stories, "from skeptics to wild-eyed gee-whiz believers."
In a telephone interview, Mr. Speiser said of the reported Soviet
sighting: "I think Tass is exploring its new freedom and is not used to
self-censorship. I don't disbelieve, but we have much better stories in
this country."
Also surprised - but only because he thinks the media ignores UFO re-
ports - is Tim Beckley of Inner Light Publications. He edits UFO Uni-
verse, a glossy magazine that prints 100,000 copies six times a year
and distributes them internationally.
Mr. Beckley said that he is a journalist, not a scientist, and that he
is almost as puzzled about UFOs now as he was when he saw his first in
1957, as a 10-year-old in New Brunswick, NJ. "Its kind of a cosmic game
those entities seem to be playing with us," he said.

SCIENCE AND THE UNKNOWN
Private citizens who have reported UFO sightings to
government officials sometimes complain of secrecy, frustration
and laughter.
Floyd Petri founded the Center for Instrumented UFO Research
in Bastrop in part to circumvent such bureaucratic hassles.
"Our purpose is to confirm the existence or nonexistence of
the UFO by scientific means," said Petri, a retired police chief.
"Before organizations such as this existed, an individual
was nothing more than a UFO buff or a witness. Often, after
people made a report to the authorities, that was the last they
heard of it. Any physical evidence they offered went up in
smoke."
Petri said the 10-year-old center is accumulating equipment
and personnel to set up a monitoring station and a field unit,
probably in a van. Both will be equipped with devices such as
radar, mangetometers, cameras, video equipment, radiation and
sound detection equipment, and chart recorders.
"There are many Americans who are funding this kind of
research right out of their own pockets," he said. "Just like
there are people who spend thousands of dollars a year fishing.
This is my hobby. This is where my money goes. There also have
been donations and benefactors interested in our research."
The scientific instrumentation -- much of which the center
owns -- sounds impressive. But some of the most fruitful
research -- retrieving government documents pertaining to UFOs --
forces the private UFO investigator to use simpler but equally
powerful tools such as typewriters and the mail.
"The Freedom of Information Act is one of the nicest things
that ever happened to us," Petri said. "There is a world of
information in the hands of the government and individuals. If
it was gathered, studied and disseminated properly, the
information would shed some light on the UFO enigma. Many groups
are trying to do that now."
Petri's organization is interested in investigating
suspected landing sites and trace materials from all kinds of
encounters -- from cattle mutilations to indentations thought to
be made by saucer landing pods. And the center is involved in
the computer enhancement of photos showing UFOs to determine
their validity.
UFO abduction cases also draw the center's attention if
there's evidence in addition to an abductee's account.
Petri also serves as state section director of Bastrop and
Travis Counties for the Mutual UFO Network.
The center and MUFON work together to train UFO
investigators, discuss cases and plan field trips for
investigations. Joint meetings are under the acronym PULSE --
Project UFO Landings, Sightings and Encounters -- so the two
organizations can maintain separate identities.
"The goals are to share information and ferret out bad,
distorted information," Petri said. "So the organizations don't
mind communicating."
Ten members are training to be field investigators. Three
have been trained. Most are professional people with skills
such as photography, computers, legal investigation and medicine.
Membership is by invitation. The center seeks people with
professional expertise that could be of use in UFO
investigations. Though it costs nothing to join, members must
subscribe to the MUFON UFO Journal.
"We're not here to make converts but to collect evidence,"
Petri said.

SUBJECT: MUFON 1988 SYMPOSIUM RECAP FILE: UFO1406
Some quick notes on the 1988 MUFON Symposium in Lincoln.
The event was well-attended, with around 400 people registered. That
compares favorably with last year's 450, at the "Woodstock of UFOlogy" in
Washington. Some of the more notable attendees: Dr. Bruce Maccabee, Dr.
David Jacobs, Dr. Michael Swords, Budd Hopkins, Marge Christensen, Walter
Webb (primary investigator on the Betty and Barney Hill case), Phil Klass,
Dr. James Deardorff, George Eberhard & Don Schmitt of CUFOS, George &
Shirley Coyne, Dan Wright, and Walt Andrus as the Beaver. AND....Mr. Ed,
the main witness in the Gulf Breeze case. He and his wife were there
"incognito", but many of us guessed who he was. I spoke to him briefly,
but didn't let on that I had guessed his identity.
The big news on Gulf Breeze that came out of the conference seems to be
that there is a lot more to the case than most people suspected. Dr.
Maccabee's 3 hour presentation on his analysis work thus far was extremely
impressive, and though highly technical at points, had us all fascinated.
It is apparent now that, if this be hoax, it is one of an incredible
magnitude. The stereoptical photos conclusively rule out a double-
exposure, and show the craft to be approximately 18 feet in diameter. They
also show, in one case, that the object was more than 150 feet from the
photographer, OUT OVER THE WATER. Many of the objections to the case
raised by CUFOS in their Bulletin were answered convincingly in the
presentation, and Don Schmitt related to me afterwards that "there was a
lot of information there we didn't have previously." Sadly, however, the
photographs are only part of the evidence, and there are still so many
factors pointing towards hoax that I cannot bring myself to raise the
rating of the case: it remains S5/P2. One of the factors, never
satisfactorily answered as yet, is why Ed would continue to use a Polaroid
when he had access to a video camera. Certainly he must have been told by
the investigators that video is much more convincing than stills....
Everyone remarked at how mellow and
understated Phil Klass behaved. I guess everyone expected him to repeat
his performance of last year, shoving tape recorders at people and making
dramatic (incorrect) statements from the audience. He asked one question
of Maccabee, and actually complimented him on his work...Maccabee, after
showing himself to be the true "Sherlock Holmes of Ufology," removed his
jacket and shirt, revealing a t-shirt that read "Just Returned from the
Twilight Zone." He put on a sporty set of shades and took answers from the
audience in his new role as "The Saucer Dude." It was a complete departure
from his reputation as a rather droll, straight-laced scientist.
...Funniest moment: Alan Benz of Tucson, who was videotaping the entire
proceedings for his Foundation for UFO Research, fell asleep during Walt
Andrus' slide presentation on Gulf Breeze (as did many of us). The camera
was trained on the screen at the time. When the lights came up, Andrus
spoke for about 15 more minutes, but Benz was off in Z's-ville. Bear this
in mind if you intend to purchase a copy of the tape...Budd Hopkins told
of an encounter with Carl Sagan, at which Sagan promised to cooperate on
an investigation of Budd's best case. He also answered Sagan's bromide of
"Extraordinary Claims Demand Extraordinary Proof" with a quote that will
be familiar to longtime ParaNet members: "Extraordinary Phenomena Demand
Extraordinary Inquiry."...Bill Moore was scheduled to speak on MJ-12, but
couldn't make it, and sent Jamie Shandera in his place. Shandera spoke
extemporaneously for half an hour, giving a very dramatic performance but
saying basically nothing new on the controversial "crashed saucer"
documents. Your Esteemed Sysop asked Shandera to give us an approximate
date by which everything should be out in the open. The answer: "Before
Reagan leaves office." Thank goodness he didn't stick to the text prepared
by Moore: as published in the Proceedings, it is the most vitriolic attack
on Phil Klass ever. While it pretended to be an answer to Klass'
objections to the authenticity of MJ-12, it was nothing more than the
vicious outburst of a cornered animal. About every fifth paragraph
actually contained an explanation of some inconsistency in the MJ-12
scenario, none of which were convincing in the least; the rest was pure
venom, enough to almost evoke sympathy for Klass...Conspicuous by his
absence was John Lear, who will supposedly be hosting the '89 convention
in Las Vegas. There is talk that that may change, however...All in all, an
enjoyable, successful conference, attended by the highest percentage of

keynote address by Marge Christensen, was for all of us to get our act
together, and many came away feeling that it just might be happening.

|| A Plan for Sharing and Growing ||
|| ANTAHKARANA, ||
|| THE STAR PEOPLE CONNECTION ||
|| ||
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In the year of 1984, a group energy concept called Antahkarana
was given to the planet. In the ensuing years many phases of the Star
People Connection have been pursued to the present moment. Now the
plans for expansion are appropriate.
We wish to present the following plan for your consideration. A
headquarters for national growth and development will be located in
Seattle, Washington. We are accepting applications for Coordinators of
other major areas within your state and Network Coordinators in
outlying areas connected to the nearest branch.
The Seattle Branch will serve as a template for the further
expansion to other major cities in neighboring states. Those combined
energies will be designated regions and our plan is to ultimately
connect with each other through the National Headquarters.
The purpose of a branch is to offer the higher, appropriate
energies a focus through which the plan for the further spiritual
development can manifest. Antahkarana is a group of "DO IT" people
whose purpose is to bring forth the energies of the Three Fold Flame.
The Three Fold Flame is represented as that which is focused through
the Heart chakra of Love, Wisdom, and Power.
The aforementioned energies are focused through three identified,
out of body, groups: The Angelic Kingdom, The Masters of the Planetary
Hierarchy, and the Intergalactic Confederation of Space Brotherhood.
These three paths are honored individually although a particular group
or individual may have a particular focus.
The major purpose on the Earth plane is to offer mutual support
to Star People/Light Workers to pursue their individual path of
spiritual growth while cooperating with the Greater Plan of Personal
and Planetary Ascension. Let it be known that we believe this
evolvement is happening throughout the omniverse.
An emphasis is on the development of the Star Person/Light Worker
through cooperation with their greater self and other aspects
sometimes referred to as starseeds or walk-ins. A spirit of
cooperation is to be fostered on all levels and the art of negotiation
with spirit to perform the appropriate bridging between all levels and
dimensions.
The participants in Antahkarana, The Star People connection, are
taught the Top Down View, "A Unifying Perspective of the Visitor
Experience," dealing with discernment of the various energies
contacting the earth plane individuals and groups. The most important
idea is to honor all paths.
A spirit of cooperation with other Light Groups is fostered and
participation in Antahkarana is available to those who resonate with
the aims and purposes as published in the statement of purpose.
The overlying emphasis is on creating a strong spirit of unity
rather than separation. The individual is honored and taught how to
integrate into the grater whole. Bridging on all levels, both vertical
and horizontal, is promoted.
We are seeking Light Workers who have a strong sense of
dedication and commitment to their path with a great sense of the
evolving events happening on the planet and with the aim of assisting
the higher realms to manifest that plan on Earth. The individual is
able to maximize his need for spiritual growth while simultaneously
participating in the greater good for all.
In every sense of the usage, Antahkarana: The Star People
Connection, is about building bridges and coming from the heart. The
original Sanskrit work means "The Bridge" and is the esoteric word for
the bridge between the heart and head and the bridge between Heaven
and Earth.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
ANTAHKARANA is for YOU. It is to assist you in becoming all that
you have chosen to be. We offer you the following opportunities to
experience:
o Something that will bring joy to your spiritual body and expand
awareness of your greater self.
o A challenge for your mental body by assisting you to get a top
down view and a unifying perspective of the mass of material
regarding the visitor experience.
o Fun for your emotional body, support and fellowship. Balance to
your physical body as it enters into its full potential as a
light body/upper dimensional being of divine origin.
o Wonderful opportunities for networking and support with your
individual path through such activities as our "Ambassadors from
the Stars Talent Bank," a newsletter and a monthly networking
conclave potluck.
We have enjoyed meeting you in the past. We send you our love and
goodwill. We hope to see you again. As we close all of our activities
by saying, so also will we close this letter: "In Love we come
together, in Love we serve together, in Love we share together and in
Love we shall come together again."
PEACE, LOVE, AND LIGHT
ARASIA
Coordinator, Antahkarana International
501 N. 36th St., #140, Seattle, WA 98103
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
ANTAHKARANA IS:
o For Star People who want to come out of the closet.
o For Star People who want to stand up and be counted.
o For those who want to reach up and reach out.
o For Star People who want to remember their heritage and accept
their destiny.
o A "Do it" group that believes just knowing is not doing.
o A belief that no one is perfect or has to have all the answers
before he/she starts.
o A belief in love, support and fellowship.
o A belief that spirituality can be fun.
So -- If you believe you may also be on "Earth Assignment", come and
check us out! If you are interested in joining a group of Antahkarana
or starting your own branch, or if you have any questions in general,
feel free to contact Arasia at the above address or e-mail me at the
address below. Together, we will bridge between Heaven and Earth!

SUBJECT: AP, SCIENTISTS DISCOVER BACTERIA CLOUD ? FILE: UFO1408
=START= XMT: 16:18 Mon Jul 16 EXP: 16:00 Tue Jul 17
CLOUDS OF BACTERIA SWIRLING THROUGH SPACE, SAYS SCIENTIST
SYDNEY (JULY 16) REUTER - Our universe may be filled with germs, an
international astronomy conference was told on Monday.
Astrophysicist Gurcharan Kalra of India's University of Delhi told a meeting of
the International Astronomical Union in Sydney that interstellar dust,
prevalent throughout the universe, may be brimming with bacteria and minute
plants.
He said samples of light from regions near the center of our galaxy closely
resembled light passed through E. Coli bacteria and through tiny sea plants
called diatoms.
This suggests that warm regions of space rich in dust may also be filled with
bacteria and other simple forms of life.
Although Kalra at first thought the concept ''obviously absurd,'' the
correlations between the two sets of light were so close that he could not
discount the data outright, he said.
Suggestions that vast clouds of bacteria exist in space were first made by
British astrophysist Fred Hoyle in 1982. However, his research was largely
ignored by scientists who baulked at the idea of a universe filled with germs.
To put the issue to rest, Kalra set out to debunk Hoyle's theory but found the
results harder to deny than he first thought.
Taking infra-red images of dust in the GC-IRS 7 region of our Milky Way galaxy,
as Hoyle had done, and comparing them with a graph of E. Coli bacteria heated
at 350 degrees Celsius (630 degrees Fahrenheit), the estimated temperature of
some of the dust in that area, Kalra found the two graphs to be very similar.
''The agreement between the observed and the predicted fluxes (results) is
indeed quite striking,'' he told atronomers at the meeting. Hoyle's data cannot
be dismissed, he added.
Kalra told Reuters he will next seek to replicate Hoyle's bacterial data, and
try and match the data with light samples from other dust-filled regions of
space.
He said astronomers have relied on similar light experiments to explain much of
the universe, and cannot now dismiss the same method when it appears to support
an unpopular conclusion.
''All this information comes to us from the same light. If we get this
information from it we should not reject it. It is also a lesson for me -- I
should not have looked at it with the idea that this is rubbish to be quickly
disproved,'' he said.

SUBJECT: GRAY BARKER AND THE MEN-IN-BLACK FILE: UFO1409

BJ> I remember the name 'Gray Barker' from MANY years ago,but from

Howdy Bud,
I'm not real sure what happened to Barker,he may well be
dead,but as of 1979,Bill Moore had stated in The Phila.Experiment
that reprint facsimiles of the original Varo edition of The Case
For The UFO could be obtained through Gray Barker at Saucerian
Press,P.O.Box 2228,Clarksburg,West Virgina 26302. I tried writting
to Barker at the time,but all my letters came back "return to
sender". By the way,wanna buy some slightly used maps of the
Phila.Navy Yard circa 1943? How bout some microfilm reprints of
every Philly Daily from the 1940's?...Ah,,never mind.
Anyway,I do have some info on Bender.The following is from the
file MIBS_HST.ZIP,I have included only the text pertaining to Bender,but
there is much more on the history of MIB's and it's worth reading.
The origin of the Men in Black legend can be pin-pointed fairly
exactly. Back in 1953 a man by the name of Albert K. Bender was
runnong an organization called the International Flying Suacer
Bureau (IFSB) and editing a little publication called "Space
Review" that was dedicated to news of flying saucers.
The IFSB had a small membership despite its rather grandoise title,
and "Space Review" reached at best, no more than a few hundred
readers. But they were all deeply devoted to the idea that flying
saucers were craft from outer soace. In common with other ture
believers, these saucer buffs were convinced that they were in
possession of a great truth, while most of the rest of the world
remained in darkness and ignorance. They felt very important , and
thus it was with a sense of surprise, even shock, that they opened
up the October 1953 issue of "Space Review" and found two
unexpected announcments:
"LATE BULLETIN. A source which the IFSB considers very reliable
has informed us that the investigation of the flying soucer mystery
and the solution is approaching its final stages."
"This same source to whom we had referred data, which had come
into our possession, suggested that it was not the proper method
and time to publish the data in 'Space Review'."
The second and more shocking item read:
"STATEMENT OF IMPORTANCE: THe mystery of the flying saucers is
no longer a mystery. The source is already known, but any
information about this is being withheld by order from a higher
source. We would like to print the full story in "Space REview",
but because of the nature of the information we are very sorry that
we have been advised in the negative."
The statement ended with the ominous sentence, "We advice those
engaged in saucer work to please be very cautious." Bender then
suspended the publication of "Space Review", and disolved the
IFSB.
The tone of the announcemnets would have been familiar to anyone
who had much experience with occult organizations. Occultists often
claim they are in the possession of some great secret which, for
equally secret reasons, they cannot reveal. Even the appeal,
"please be very cautious" was not unique. It made those engaged in
"saucer work" feel more important . After all, who is going to
bother to persecute you if you are just wasting your time?
SHortly after Bender closed down his magazine and organization he
gave an interview to a local paper which he asserted the he had
been visited by "three men wearing dark suits" who had order him
"emphatically" to stop publishing material about flying saucers.
Bender said that he had been "scared to death" and that he
"acutally couldn't eat for a couple of days." Some of Bender's
former associates tried to press for a more satisfactory
explanation, but to all questions he replied either cryptically or
not at all.
This state of affairs created soncsiderable confusions amoung the
flying saucer buffs. What were they to think about sucah a strange
story> Some were openly skeptical of Bender's tale. They said that
his publication and organization were losing money and the tale of
the three visitors who "ordered" him to stop publishing was just a
face-saving gesture. Yet, as the years went by the "three Men in
Black" began to sound more rspectable and they took on a life of
their own. Some' were Bender's friends first thought that the Men
in Black were from Air Force or the CIA, and indeed Bender's
original statments do seem to sound like government agents. But
after a while the Men in Black begun to assume a more
extraterrestrial, even supernatural air.
Finally in 1963, a full decade after he first told of his
mysterious visitors, Alber Bender elaborated further in a book
called "Flying Sauvers adn the Three Men in Black." It was a
strange, confused and virutally unreadable book that revealed very
little in the way of hard facts, but did significantly enhance the
reutation of the Men in Black as extraterrestrials. The book also
introduced into the lore "three beautful women, dressed in tight
white unigorms." Like thei r mail couterparts in black, the women
in white had "glowing eys."

BREAKING DOWN "THE WALL" OF UFO SILENCE
FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS, ALMOST THE ENTIRE EUROPEAN CONTINENT HAS
BEEN PLAGUED BY A WAVE OF UFO SIGHTINGS UNSURPASSED IN HISTORY,
PERHAPS MOST PUZZLING HAVE BEEN THOSE OF A GIGANTIC "FLYING
PLATFORM" SIGHTED NEAR THE GERMAN BORDER IN BELGIUM.

In a totally unprecedented move in the history of ufology, the
Belgian Air Force and government has not only carefully
documented the great UFO wave over Wallonia, but shared its
results with civilian investigators and the public, in effect
literally breaking down "The Wall" of UFO Silence that still
stands in the western world.
* * *
For the past year, citizens in the French-speaking region of
Wallonia in Belgium have experienced an extraordinary UFO wave.
Thousands of witnesses, including dozens of gendarmes (national
police) and officers of the Belgian Air Force, have described
triangular-shaped vehicles flying slowly over rooftops, hovering,
shooting searchlights and performing incredible maneuvers. The
objects have been captured on some 25 videotapes and tracked on
both ground and airborne radar by the military.
Few, if any, will doubt that the triangular UFOs have been seen
all over Wallonia since November of 1989. According to a front
page story in The Wall Street Journal published on October 10,
1990 and entitled "Belgium Scientists Seriously Pursue A
Triangular UFO," "since the rash of sightings here began almost a
year ago, more than ]2,600 have been reported of a triangular
object with three huge lights hovering in the night sky over
Wallonia." The question that some are asking is whether these
objects could be explained by the testing of a new top secret
military aircraft. Remotely Piloted Vehicles (RPVs), AWACS, the
F-117 Stealth Fighter, and a modified version of the B-2 Stealth
Bomber, are some of the options that have been suggested.
Besides the large amount of well documented data gathered by
the Gendarmerie, the Air Force and civilian scientists from the
Belgian Society for the Study of Space Phenomena (SOBEPS), the
Belgian Map has broken another record. For the first time ever in
the controversial history of UFOs anywhere in the world, the
Belgian Minister of Defense, Guy Coeme, has authorized the Air
Force to fully cooperate with SOBEPS, forwarding their reports,
and even putting at their disposal a Hawker Sideley aircraft
equipped with infrared cameras and sophisticated electronic
sensors.
As the well known French physicist, Jean Pierre Petit, explained
to Paris Match magazine, "we are living in a time that is the
beginning of a period of openness. First the Berlin Wall
crumbled, now the wall of silence about UFOs is falling.
Concerning the UFOs, we are entering a phase completely different
from the earlier ones. It is the end of commercialism and fakery.
The true scientists are finally making their appearance." Dr.
Petit is a senior physicist and director of research with the
National Center for Scientific Research of France. An iconoclast
and a world class expert on magnetohydrodynamcs (MHD), Dr. Petit
has also conducted some rather interesting UFO research of his
own, publishing recently his results in the book, INVESTIGATION
OF UFOS.
Unlike many other UFO groups around the world, the SOBEPS
has a team of respected scientists, including Leon Brenig, a
nonlinear dynamics theorist at the Free University in Brussels,
and Professor August Meessen, a physicist from the Catholic
University at Louvain. Among the numerous UFO witnesses, in fact,
were Lucien Clerebaut, Secretary General of SOBEPS, Patrick
Ferryn, a film producer and founding member, and Jose Fernandez,
another SOBEPS investigator. "Here is an opportunity where we can
apply the scientific method," remarked Professor Brenig.
SOBEPS files show that the first sightings occurred on the
night of November 7, 1989, when two gendarmes from Esneux
observed a silent huge craft "with two very powerful white lights
directed downwards and 'a sort of green and red garland.'" The
flap, however, gained momentum and notoriety on the evening of
November 29 when 41 witnesses, including six gendarmes, observed
the huge triangle - sometimes referred as "a stationary platform
" - in Eupen, Verviers, and several other locations in Wallonia
near the border with Germany. As the press speculated with AWACS
and Stealth aircraft on the following days, the Defense Minister
Guy Coeme dismissed these rumors, stating that "all hypotheses
involving the presence of military aircraft in our air space are
definitely to be ruled out. "

It is perhaps because the objects are so far unidentified, that
the Belgian Air Force has undertaken the task of chasing and
investigating the intruders. As Col. Wilfried de Brouwer, the
Chief of Operations of the Belgian Air Force who is coordinating
the UFO investigation, told The Wall Street Journal, "Our
approach is that it's our job to see what's going on." Indeed,
the UFO flap climaxed on the night of March 30-31 of 1990, when
unknown targets were tracked by two radar installations. The one
at Glons, located southeast of Brussels, belongs to the NATO
defense group - NATO Headquarters is in Brussels - while that at
Semmerzake, west of Brussels, is in charge of controlling all
military and civilian traffic in the entire Belgian territory. At
that point, the master-controller at Glons ordered the scramble
of two F-16 interceptors, which also locked the UFO on their
onboard radars.
We have obtained, courtesy of French researcher Jean-Luc
Rivera, a copy of the complete report of this incident, which was
prepared by Air Force Major P. Lambrechts, from the Air Force
General Staff in Brussels, and which was forwarded to the SOBEPS
following the instructions of full cooperation with that group.
The "Report Concerning the Observation of UFOs During the Night
of March 30 to 31, 1990," includes a full chronology of the
events, as well as a thick dossier of enclosures with eyewitness'
descriptions from several gendarmes and maps of where the
sightings took place.
Major P. Lambrechts explains at the inception that, "the
observations both visual and by radar were of such nature, that
it was decided to order the scramble of two F-16 aircraft with
the goal of identifying these UFOs." The report also indicates
that "the presence or testing of B2 or F117 (Stealth Bomber),
RPVs (Remotely Piloted Vehicles), ULMs (Ultra Light Motorized)
and AWACS at the moment of these events in the Belgian airspace,
can be excluded. "
According to the Chronology, the Sequence of events began at
22.50 hours, when the "master controller at Glons " received a
telephone call from gendarme Renquin, who reported he was seeing
from his house in Ramillies, "three unusual lights. . . forming
an equilateral triangle, and with changing colors of red, green
and yellow." At 23.05, the Gendarmerie at Wavre sent a patrol,
which confirmed the observation. At 23.15, Renquin called again
to inform that he was seeing a new set of three lights, while the
radar screens at Glons detected " an unidentified contact moving
at a speed of around 25 knots." (A knot is equivalent to one
nautical mile - 6,080 feet - per hour. )
For the next two and a half hours, an increasing number of
gendarmes and other witnesses continued to observe the strange
maneuvers of up to three sets of triangular lights in the
outskirts of Brussels. By 23.49 hours, the radar screens at
Semmerzake confirmed the targets and the order to scramble two F-
16s was given at 23.56 hours, taking off at 00.05 on March 31.
According to the report, "the aircraft had brief radar contacts
on several occasions." However, each time that "the pilots were
able to secure a lock on one of the targets for a few seconds,
this resulted each time in a drastic change in the behavior of
the UFOs."
During the first lock on at 00.13, continues the report, "the
speed of the target changed in a minimum of time from 150 to 970
knots and from 9,000 to 5,000 feet, returning then to 11,000
feet, in order to change again to close to ground level; this
resulted in a 'break lock' in a few seconds and the pilots lost
the radar contact." In another lock on at 00.30 hours, the "break
lock" was achieved by what the report calls "a jamming signal on
the screen."
Col. de Brouwer explained to Paris Match reporter Marie-Therese
de Brosses, that the change of velocity from 280 KPM to 1,800 KPH
while descending from 3,000 meters to 1,000 meters in one second,
was a fantastic acceleration equivalent to 40 Gs. This would
exclude any human pilot onboard the UFO, since humans can only
withstand 8 Gs. (A "G " is a unit of acceleration equivalent to
the gravitational pull of the earth, 9.81 m/sec/sec.) When the
UFO approached the ground level, continued Col. de Brouwer, "it
was out of the question for the F-16 to catch up with the object
at this low altitude, where the density of the air limits the
speed to 1,300 KMP. Above that speed, the temperature in the
compressors of the jet turbines would cause the engines to burst.
There was a logic behind the motions of the object," added the
Colonel.
In any case, the cat and mouse game went on until shortly after 1
am, when the F-16s were ordered to return to their base. On the
ground, however, Captain Pinson and other gendarmes continued to
observe "four white luminous spots forming a square" until around
1.30, when "the four UFOs lost their luminosity and seemed to
disappear in four different directions." Significantly, the
weather conditions on that night were very clear, allowing ground
witnesses to observe the objects in detail, as well as the
pursuit by the F-16s. The pilots, however, did not observe the
objects visually.
Major Lambrechts finally excludes a number of alternative
hypotheses for the UFOs, such as "optical illusions, confusion
with planets or other meteorological phenomena... weather
balloons. . . or meteorological inversions. . . holographic
projections," etc. More importantly, he writes that "the speeds
measured at he moment of the change of altitudes, exclude the
hypothesis that the UFOs observed could be confused with
aircraft. " Still more puzzling was the fact that, "despite that
on several occasions high speeds above the speed of the sound
barrier were measured, the shock wave was never observed. Here,
no explanation can be given." The French physicist Jean Pierre
Petit concurred: "In reality," he told Paris Match, "there is no
machine made by man, either an airplane or a missile, that is
capable of such performance. Specifically, flying at the speed of
sound without making a sonic boom."

Although the Belgian military authorities have insisted that
the UFOs in Wallonia are no secret aircraft, the similarities
between the triangular craft seen in Belgium with the boomerang-
shaped objects reported throughout the last decade in the Hudson
Valley in New York and Western Connecticut, as well as other
triangular UFOs observed in Wytheville, Virginia, Fyffe, Alabama,
and Puerto Rico, among other places, have led some researchers to
suggest that the technology behind all these observations is
terrestrial and not extraterrestrial.
The similarity between the Belgian and Hudson Valley flaps was
noted by SOBEPS investigator Patrick Ferryn. Commenting on the
book Night Siege by the late Dr. Allen Hynek, investigator
Phillip Imbrogno and reporter Bob Pratt, which documented the
Hudson Valley cases, Ferryn wrote that "changing only a few
words, exactly the same could be written to give an account of
the position of affairs here! [in Belgium] The same goes for many
entire pages and excerpts elsewhere in the book."
While nobody doubts that people have been seeing something in
both upstate New York and Wallonia in Belgium, the big question
is whether these sightings are caused by true UFOs or by some
kind of new revolutionary secret military aircraft. Foremost
among the proponents of the secret weapon theory is Tony
Gonsalves, a researcher from East Providence, Rhode Island, who
served as a jet mechanic and plane captain for the U.S. Navy on
three aircraft carriers between 1959 and 1963.
In a number of papers written during the last two years,
Gonsalves has developed his theory of "The American made UFO" -
that the boomerangs of Westchester and Duchess counties, as well
as the triangular UFOs of Belgium, Virginia and Puerto Rico, are
actually a modified covert version of the B-2 Stealth Bomber.
Gonsalves believes this craft has been fully operational since
the early 80s, while the official B-2 bomber that was unveiled in
1988 is a "decoy" to deceive the American public, the media and
the Congress. Furthermore, Tony Gonsalves and a few other
ufologists speculate that this secret aircraft may even
incorporate some alien technology obtained from UFO crashes
decades ago.
Gonsalves' theory seemed to gain some credibility when Aviation
Week & Space Technology magazine reported in its October 1, 1990
edition that, "large, triangular wing-Shaped aircraft" are indeed
being tested out of the Nellis Air Force range in Nevada and the
Tehachapi Mountains near Edwards AFB in California. The well
known aerospace magazine mentioned several sightings by engineers
of "triangular-shaped aircraft, " possibly prototypes for the A-
12, the Navy's new Stealth attack plane, and one or several
versions for reconnaissance aircraft cloaked under the top secret
code of Aurora, to replace the old Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird"
which was recently mothballed. Aviation Week (sometimes referred
by the nickname of "Aviation Leak") also quoted Air Force sources
who "acknowledged that diamond and triangular-shaped vehicles are
'the trend now,'" as well as unconfirmed reports that some of
these aircraft "were designed to operate at speeds around Mach 10
or higher."
Because he worked for over 30 years as senior editor of
Aviation Week, where he is still a contributing editor, we sought
the opinion of well known UFO debunker Phillip Klass as to
whether there could be any validity to explain the Hudson Valley
and Belgian flaps with Secret military aircraft, Stealth or
otherwise. "In my opinion the answer is absolutely not,"
responded Klass, adding that only those sightings "in the
vicinity of Nellis Air Force Base" in Nevada could be caused by
military aircraft tests. "If there were a secret airplane, "
continued Klass, "for goodness' sake, the last place in the world
you'd want to fly it is in Duchess County, where people have been
alerted to look for objects."
Although they certainly disagree on the final cause of the
sightings, Klass and Phillip Imbrogno seem to be in full
agreement in their rejection of Tony Gonsalves' Stealth theory.
"l can't see the government testing a top secret device in an
area like this, " said Imbrogno. "Number one, what if they have a
problem, what if they crash?" Imbrogno said he had considered
this possibility when he first looked into the boomerang
sightings, but that "I am convinced right now that the Hudson
Valley UFO is not an aircraft, Stealth or otherwise. Number two,
I am not totally convinced that it's from outerspace. Number
three, I don't know what the hell it is."
Meanwhile, sightings continue to pile up in Europe. The latest
case before we go to press was reported in early November, when
"mystery shapes in the sky, variously described as orange balls,
triangles and points of light," were reported in France, Belgium,
Germany, Switzerland and Italy, according to a newswire report
from the Reuter's news agency. Police phone lines were flooded
across the continent with calls about unidentified flying
objects. Experts in Munich speculated the sightings could have
been triggered by the explosion of a meteorite. However, this
explanation could hardly satisfy the familiar sightings in
Belgium, where "dozens of people reported a triangular object
with three lights flying slowly and soundlessly to the
southwest," according to the Reuter report.
The Belgian Air Force was studying once again the case, and so
was France's Service for the Investigation of Re-entry Phenomena
(SEPRA), which is attached to the French National Space Agency in
Toulouse and was formerly known as GEPAN. One Air France pilot
told a radio interviewer: "We were on a flight to Barcelona
(Spain) at about 33,000 feet at about 7 pm when we first saw the
shape. It couldn't have been a satellite because it was there for
three or four minutes."
If the sightings in Belgium and elsewhere turn out to be secret
aircraft, the mystery will become pubic sooner or later, but if
they are indeed caused by true UFOs, then we may be debating them
for a long time to come. Perhaps a summary of the whole Belgian
flap and its meaning was best expressed by SOBEPS Scientist
August Meessen, Professor of Physics at the Catholic University
at Louvain. He told the French magazine Paris Match: "There are
too many independent eyewitness reports to ignore. Too many of
the reports describe coherent physical effects, and there is an
agreement among the accounts concerning what was observed. If all
of these witnesses are lying, then it is a mental disease of such
novelty and proportions that it must be studied."

"But of course," continued Prof. Meessen, "there are also
physical effects. The Air Force report allows us to approach the
problem in a rational and scientific way. The simplest hypothesis
is that the reports are caused by extraterrestrial visitors, but
that hypothesis carries with it other problems. We are not in a
rush to form a conclusion, but continue to study the mystery."
The last word about the UFO flap that has brought down "The Wall"
of UFO Silence has yet to be uttered.

From Bill Chalker in Australia - A ParaNet(sm) special correspondent.
Mike, Re the Document received from the Belgian Defence Department, the full
document follows:
SUMMARY REPORT ON OBSERVATIONS 30-31 MARCH 1990
BACKGROUND
1. Starting early Dec 89 the BAF has been contacted on several occasions by
eyewitnesses who observed strange phenomena in the Belgian airspace. On some
occassions they described the phenomena as a triangle-shaped platform up to 200
feet wide with 3 downward beaming projectors, hovering at +- 100 m above the
ground and making only a very light humming noise. Some witnesses saw the
object departing at very high speed after a very fast acceleration. All
observations were made in the evening or during the night. 2. The radar
stations which had been alerted by eyewitnesses could not definitely determine
a correlation between the visual observations and their detections on radar.
On two occasions the BAF scrambled 2 F16 during the evening hours. a.On the
first occasion the F16 arrived +- 1 hour after the visual detection. Nothing
was observed. b. On the second occassion, pilots could identify a laser-beam
projector on the ground. After investigation it appeared however that the
description of the observations totally differed from previously described
phenomena. 3. Consequently the Belgian Airforce, anxious to identify the origin
of the phenomena, authorised F16 scrambles if following conditions were met: a.
Visual observations on the ground confirmed by the local police. b. Detection
on radar.
EVENTS
4. On 30 Mar 1990 at 23.00 Hr the Master Controller (MC) of the Air Defence
radar station of Glons received a phone call from a person who declared to
observe three independant blinking lights in the sky, changing colours, with a
much higher intensity than the lights of the stars and forming a triangle.
Meteo conditions were clear sky, no clouds, light wind and a minor temperature
inversion at 3000 Ft. 5. The MC in turn notified the police of WAVRE which
confirmed the sighting at +- 23 30 Hr. Meanwhile the MC had identified a radar
contact at about 8 NM North of the ground observation. The contact moved
slowely to the West at a speed of =- 25kts and an altitude of 10.000 Ft. 6. The
ground observers reported 3 additional light spots which moved gradually, with
irregular speeds, towards the first set of lights and forming a second
triangle. 7. At 23.50 a second radar station, situated at +- 100 NM from the
first, confirmed an identical contact at the same place of the radar contact of
Glons. 8. At 00.05 Hr 2 F16 were scrambled from BEAUVECHAIN airbase and guided
towards the radar contacts. A total of 9 interception attempts have been made.
At 6 occasions the pilots could establish a lock-on with their air interception
radar. Lock-on distances varried between 5 and 8 NM. On all occasions targets
varied speed and altitude very quickly and break-locks occured after 10 to 60
seconds. Speeds varied between 150 and 1010 kts. At 3 occasions both F16
registered simultaneous lock-ons with the same parameters. The 2 F16 were
flying +- 2 NM apart. No visual contact could be established by either of the
F16 pilots. 9. The F16 flew 3 times through the observation field of the ground
observers. At the third passage the ground observers notified a change in the
behaviour of the light spots. The most luminous started to blink very
intensively while the other disappeared. Consequently, the most luminous spot
started to dim gradually. 10. Meanwhile the head of the police of WAVRE had
alerted 4 other police stations in the area. All four, seperated +- 10 NM from
each other, confirmed the visual observations. 11. The aircraft landed at 01.10
Hrs. The last visual observation was recorded at +- 01.30 Hrs.
CONCLUSIONS
12. The BELGIAN Airforce was unable to identify neither the nature nor the
origin of the phenomena. However, it had sufficient elements to exclude
following assumptions: a. Balloons. Impossible due to the highly variable
speeds (confirmed visually and by radar). b. ULM. Same as for balloons. c. RPV.
Impossible due to the hovering characteristics. d. Aircraft (including
Stealth). Same as for RPV. No noise. e. Laser projections or Mirages.
Unlikely due to lack of projection surface (no clouds). Light spots have been
observed from different locations. Light spots moved over distance of more
than 15 NM. Form of inlighted part of spots has been observed with spectacles.
Laser projections or mirages can not be detected by radar.

SUBJECT: ALIEN STARFIGHTER FOUND ? CANADIAN/USA FILE: UFO1412
To All CIS and ParaNet members:
This file is uploaded exactly as I received it. The file came to
me unsigned and in the proverbial brown paper envelope. The text
was postmarked from Canada, and it had no return address. In the
file you will see reference two photo's that were included. What
these were: a xerox of an aerial photo of the Carp, Ontario region
and a very poor xerox of what was supposed to be an alien. No
detail was observed. Just a poor shot of what appeared to be a
"Grey". All in all, this is extremely "suspect" and the only
reason that I uploaded it was that there had been much comment
regarding it, not only here but on ParaNet. So:
read it at your own risk.

*****************************************************************
The Alledged C/R of the 11/89 "Alien Starfighter"
Canadian and American Security Agencies are engaged in a conspiracy
of silence, to withhold from the world the alien vessel seized in
the swamps of Corkery Road, Carp, in 1989.
UFO sightings in the Ontario region had intensified in the 1980's,
specifically, around nuclear power generating stations. On Nov.
4, 1989 at 20:00 hrs Canadian Defense Dept. radars picked up a
globe shaped object travelling at phenomenal speed over Carp,
Ontario. The UFO abruptly stopped, and dropped like a stone.
Canadian and American Security Agencies were immediately notified
of the landing. Monitoring satellites traced the movements of the
aliens to a triangular area. (see aerial map) off Almonte and
Corkery Roads.
The ship had landed in deep swamp near Corkery Road. Two AH-64
Apaches and a UH-60 Blackhawk headed for the area the following
night. The helicopters carried full weapon loads. They were part
of a covert American unit that specialized in the recovery of alien
craft.
Flying low over Ontario pine trees the Apache attack choppers soon
spotted a glowing, blue, 20 metre in diameter sphere. As targeting
lasers locked-on, both gunships unleashed their full weapon loads
of 8 missiles each. All 16 were exploded in proximity bursts 10
metres downwind from the ship.
The missiles were carrying VEXXON, a deadly neuroactive gas which
kills on contact. Exposed to air the gas breaks down quickly into
inert components. Immediately after having completed their mission
the gunships turned around, and headed back across the border.
Now the Blackhawk landed, as men exploded from its open doors. In
seconds the six man strike team had entered the UFO through a 7
metre hatchless, oval portal. No resistance was encountered. At
the controls, 3 dead crewman were found.
With the ship captured, the US Air Force, Pentagon, and Office of
Naval Intelligence were notified. Through the night a special team
of technicians had shut-down and disassembled the sphere. Early
the next morning Nov. 6, 1989 construction equipment and trucks
were brought into the swamp. The UFO parts were transported to a
secret facility in Kanata, Ontario.
As a cover story the locals were informed that a road was being
built through the swamp. No smokescreen was needed for the
military activity as Canadian forces regularly train in the Carp
region. Officially nothing unusual was reported in the area.
Although someone anonymously turned in a 35mm roll of film. It was
received by the National Research Council of Canada, in Ottawa.
The film contained several clear shots of an entity holding a
light. (see photo) At this time the photographer is still
unidentified.
The humanoids were packed in ice and sent to an isolation chamber
at the Univ. of Ottawa. CIA physiologists performed the autopsies.
The reptilian, fetus-headed beings, were listed as CLASS 1 NTE's.
(Non Terrestrial Entities) Like others recovered in previous
operations, they were muscular, grey-white skinned, humanoids.
The ship was partially reassembled at the underground facility in
Kanata. Unlike previous recoveries this one is pure military.
Built as a "Starfighter" it is heavily armed and armored. In
design no rivets, bolts, or welds were used in fastening, yet when
reconstructed there are no seams. The UFO itself is made up of a
matrixed dielectric magnesium alloy. It is driven by pulsed
electromagnetic fields generated by a cold fusion reactor. All
offensive capabilities utilize independently targeting electronic
beam weapons. In the cargo hold were found ordnance racks
containing fifty Soviet nuclear warheads. Their purpose was
revealed by advanced tactical/combat computers located in the
flight deck.
Threatened by recent East-West relations, and the revolutionary
movements within itself, Red China is preparing for the final
ideological war. The aliens have agreed to defend China from the
free world's combined military and nuclear forces.
At this time China is arming the Middle East with their own nuclear
arsenals, in order that they can successfully take on Israel.
Unifying the Arabs under one Chinese command was simple, especially
with Israel's recent "iron fist" attitude toward occupied
territories.
The Soviet warheads found in the UFO were destined for Syria. CIA
operatives in the Middle East have noticed huge movements of
Chinese "technicians" and "advisors". China is also supplying the
Arabs with bacteriological agents, Migs, Hind gunships, tanks, and
missile launchers.
The use of "Soviet" instead of "Chinese" nukes is part of a
disinformation campaign to break up East-West relations after the
annihilation of Israel. The Warheads were hijacked from Soviet
subs in the Dragon's Triangle. A section of alien controlled
Pacific once frequented by Russian subs. After losing some 900
high yield warheads and 13 vessels, commanders were ordered to
steer clear of the area.
The most important alien-tech. find were the 2 milimetre, spheroid,
brain implants. Surgical inserted through the nasal orifice the
individual can be fully monitored and controlled. The CIA and
Canadian Govt have actively supported mind-slave experiments for
years. Currently the Univ. of Ottawa is involved in ELF wave mind
control programs. A continuation of the CIA psychological warfare
project known as MKULTRA, started at the Allen Memorial Institute
in Montreal.
Using ELF signals transmitted at the same wavelength the human
brain uses, the researchers could subliminally control the test
subject. The alien implants utilize the same principles except
that the whole unit is subminiaturized and contained in the brain.
Fortunately the implants can be detected by magnetic resolution
scanning technology. All individuals implanted by the aliens are
classified as ZOMBIES.
The ZOMBIES have been programmed to help overthrow Mankind in the
near future. When China finishes with Israel it will invade
Europe. At the same time Chinese spacebased bacteriological
weapons will be launched at the Arctic. The winds will carry the
diseases into Russia and North America. In days 100's of millions
will be dead, survivors will have to deal with Chinese, aliens, and
the ZOMBIES.
The aliens want all out war so that human resistance would be
minimal, when they invade. They tried this same tactic once before
with Nazi Germany. Most of the scientific advances we have today
came from German science which was based on alien technology. Had
Hitler won the war, the earth would have become a concentration
camp.In order to depopulate the continents for the aliens.
Data aboard the sphere explained why the aliens are so comfortable
on our world. They preceded man on the evolutionary scale by
millions of years; created with the dinosaurs. Some 675 million
years ago an interdimensional war destroyed most of their
civilization, and forced them to leave the earth. Now they have
chosen to reclaim what was once theirs.
The alien forces with their Chinese and Arab allies will attack
within the next 5 years. Waiting longer than that would make it
impossible even for the aliens to reverse the ecological damage
inflicted on the Earth by Man.

(Sysop Ted) Tonight we are privileged to have as our guests Shirley and George
Coyne. The Coynes are Co-state Mufon directors and are not new comers to the
UFO abduction phenomenon. In addition to their MUFON activities they are both
are much involved in helping abduction victims. As if this were not enough to
make them interesting guests, Shirley is herself an abductee. Shirley, to get
things kicked off I have a few questions that I know will be
on everyone's mind. So let's start with:
.
Can you describe your abduction experience and include such information as when
did you first become aware of the encounter and how many times has this happened
to you.
(5,Shirley) I had been trying to make up my mind since 82 to have regression
when we started have some sightings in 1983, the fear and emotional feelings got
worse. I walked straight up to Budd and he looked at my name tag and said you're
the girl Dan Wright has been telling me about. Under regression the story came
out. I was 9 years old. My mother shot at them and the shot woke me up. (with a
22). The beings told me I had to come with them. When they took me through the
living room, I could see my mother. kneeling at the window, and she was frozen
with the gun to her shoulder.
This was in Arkansas on a 500 acre cotton plantation. They floated me across the
living room and the door was closed, it never opened. We went through wall and
all. I remember going up the ramp but didn't remember entering. My next memory
was sitting on a table affair in a circular room. Very cold and very frightened.
I was put through a physical examination. They took me back and tucked me in; my
mother was still at the window. I'll stop here for any questions.ga
(Ted) Please describe the beings GA
(5,Shirley) They were 3.5 to 4 ft tall. Very soft gray color which looked almost
white. Large black round eyes. Very large head. No ears. Two little holes for a
nose. A slit for a mouth. Their skin was marshmellowy.
(Ted) Ok. any others want to jump in here with ?s. GA
(5,DBW) ?
(Ted) Ok Dale ga
(5,DBW) Shirley, please describe the black helicopter experience and also phone
tapping and being followed that we heard about and have you done an FOIA for
info on a file about you with FBI NSA, etc? GA
(5,Shirley) No we have not done an FOIA yet. We suspect NSA involved and have
been told that by a man from the military. He says they fly that type of
helicopter. I understand details of some of our helicopter experiences are in
the uploaded article in the library here. When we had our sightings (ufo
sightings) in 83 around our property, we saw as many as 16 at one time buzzing
around our property. Not at the same time a UFO was visible.Two weeks ago on May
15, at 11 am we were on our way to Lansing for the MUFON membership meeting. I
looked out the window near Perry, MI, the black Helicopter was pacing our car.
It stayed with us till the arrival at the meeting. Then someone came in and said
come out here there's a big black helicopter flying around. We went out, George
got a picture, and one of the members got 2 minutes on a video camera. The air
national guard denied that it belonged to them. They say they have no black
helicopter and do not operate at low altitude over cities. There were as many as
3 over the area at one time. Even DBC saw one of them. On the way George blinked
his lights, and the copter blinked its lights at us, when we were in the parking
lot. The blinking light of the copter is on video. ga
(5,Drax) ?
(5,DBW) follow up?
(Ted) Dale one short follow the Georgia then DRAX ga
(5,DBW) Shirley, Rick Dell'Aquilla, my Co-Director is competing against you for
the Central States Director. Rick is a lawyer who has never had an abductee
experience or a sighting. I would like to ask, with no dis-respect intended, if
this is a stunt to gain support for your appointment.ga
(Ted) ga Shirley
(5,Shirley) No way Jose....George believes in his record speaking for itself. We
had nothing to do with the helicopters appearing at any time. ga
(Ted) Georgia yer UP!
(5,G-WIZ) Shirley, how much did your mother remember of the abduction shooting,
or anything? ga
(5,Shirley) My mother was terrified. She is very religious and refuses to talk
much about it. She does remember it, the shooting and all. They rest of my
family also remembers. There were 8 of us children at that time. Some of the
other children were abducted, and they rember the incident. They have not
acknowledged any abductions yet. ga
(5,G-WIZ) thanks. ga Ok.
(Ted) Drax is up and then I have a question. GA DRAX
(5,DBC) ?
(5,Drax) Hi Shirley (Jim Speiser of AZ MUFON)
<1> Any markings on the helicopter that stand out in your mind.
<2> Are you aware that Dan Wright is circulating a list of people that should be
on the lookout for these copters (or am I talking out of school)?
(5,Shirley) Yes there were specific markings on the left side. A white cicle
with a black circle inside the white circle. We do not talk up that markings
order to allow us to compare with other reports. So please don't spread that
around much. Regarding the question of the list, we are aware of that.ga
(5,Drax) Thanks GA
(5,DON) ??
(Ted) Shirley, did the being speak or communicate anything vocal or were there
any sounds at all. ga
(5,Shirley) Yes they communicated telepathically. ga
(Ted) Did they say anything verbally or was it all telepathic? ga
(5,Shirley) It was all telepathic.ga
(5,Drax) ?
(Ted) Don next ga
(5,DON) Hi Shirley, Don from Id. MUFON. I just signed in, and wanted to ask
about your suspicions concerning tapped telephones, etc. Have you been able to
have your lines swept by the phone co. or perhaps private security firms? Also
have you had any problems with mail, or any other reason to suspect you are
under surveillance? If you think that it may be from fed. government, the FOIA
will enable you to find out if there are any files on you, and what they
contain. ga
(5,Shirley) Yes we believe our phone is tapped and I understand there are some
details of it in the uploaded TXT in the library. We have been in touch with MI
Bell, but they won't cooperate we suspect they have a court order. We have not
contacted a private firm to help us detect the tap. I think an FOIA would be
joke. We suspect all the black helicopter activity is just a means of telling us
they have us under surveillance.ga
(5,DON) follow
(Ted) Don, a quick follow? ga
(5,DON) Shirley, I have been a policeman for over ten years and in order to have
a court order, you would have to be suspected of a crime or a national security
threat. Also it is mighty expensive to operate a helicopter on an hourly basis
if it was the feds, I think they would find a less expensive way to transmit
you that message. Have you had any contact with any federal agencies, or have
they contacted you? ga
(5,DBW) ?
(5,Shirley) We have had no contact with the gov. directly. Since when does the
govt worry about nickels and dimes? The gov. actually considers MUFON...
a national security risk. Thus we may fall under that category, and possibly
because we work with abductees. ga
(5,Gerry) ?
(Ted) DBC did you have a ? GA
(5,Drax) ?
(5,DBC) Shirley, I understand you had a mysterious pregnancy when you were 17
the pregnancy terminated after 3 months without any explanation can you tell us
more about that abduction? ga
(5,Shirley) I was in Florida at the time. They abducted me and impregnated me
clinically (I didn't know it until later under hypnosis). Then they came back
(now in Arkansas) and apparently took the fetus I definitely was pregnant
because I had been to the doctor and no trace was left. The doctor couldn't
understand what happened, because I didn't abort. ga
(5,DBC) There have been example told by Budd Hopkins of subjects seeing a child
later on that may have been the result of the fetus development. Have you ever
experienced this type of encounter? ga
(5,Shirley) Yes, when the baby was very very small and also on several other
occasions. The child had very small features very pale skin. Red hair, very
wispy. He has very blue eyes. A blue you cannot really describe. ga
(5,DON) ??
(Ted) Dale is next followed by DRAX then Gerry DON and Ted GA Dale!
(5,DBW) Shirley, after people get involved in these type of incidents, they
usually tend to go towards different positions of faith. Have you been drawn to
crystals, the bible, or some other form of semi religious or religious
realm.....And a follow up ?
(5,Shirley) Like MUFON policy, I'm strictly a nuts and bolts person on this
subject. The Bible has always been a part of my life, and I'm definitely not
into crystals. I am not into past lives, channeling, and other paranormal
activities. Strictly nuts and bolts. ga
(Ted) Drax is up next ga drax
(5,Drax) Shirley, Will you and George be at Lincoln and if so, will you bring
the copter video? And how can we confirm that the US Govt. considers MUFON a
security risk? GA
(5,Shirley) Regarding the Lincoln conference, does a cat a have a tail?
(5,Drax) Haha!
(5,Shirley) Yes, we will bring the video of the helicopter and an audio tape
from the regression-related incident....
(5,Phil Klass) this i want to c
(5,Shirley) Regarding the gov as considering MUFON a security risk....
(5,Drax) [Kiss my Klass, Don]
(5,Shirley) why else would they tap phones, tamper with mail and harass us with
helicopters etc. By the way our mail is frequently delivered open and sloppily
taped shut. And some letters never arrive at their destination. For example, I
sent Don Ware a copy of some signs and symbols that I wrote during a period of
"sleep". And he never received it. I also sent a copy of it to someone else, and
they never received it. ga
(5,Drax) follow up?
(Ted) Ok DRAX Follow
(5,Drax) If I may just suggest its just possible that whoever is doing this is
not connected with the govt. there may be "higher authorities" at work. Just a
theory. GA
(5,DBW) ?
(Ted) Drax - just what did you have in mind!?! ga
(5,Shirley) You mean God or UFOs?
(Ted) Or Ted?
(5,Drax) No, something in between. Not Ted, or Georgia, either! Perhaps a
well-funded multinational conspiracy of some kind. GA
(5,Drax) I'm done. GA
(Ted) Gerry has been patiently waiting GA Gerry
(5,Gerry) Drax's theory has to be considered always but I was going to say that
the blinking light exchange when they could see you videotaping which means you
would likely show it at a conference means we ALL are being put on notice that
they or somebody is interested in us. Also about the child did you, Shirley, see
the drawing in Intruders and would you say there was resemblance to the child
you saw? ga
(5,Shirley) I have not seen the drawing in Intruders. Budd gave me the book, but
I have not read it or others like it in order not to contaminate the case
However, I have made drawings long before the book came out and I'm told the
drawings resemble those in the book also last year at the MUFON conf. in DC,
without thinking Budd showed me some drawings. And I burst into tears. ga
(5,Gerry) follow...
(Ted) Ok follow Gerry ga
(5,Gerry) The blinking light would have been done by the pilot on the spur of
the moment and may not itself indicate any policy or higher intent but the
general visibility of all those helicopters still makes me think it is a message
to all of us. Wise of you not to look at Budd's book yet. ga
(5,Shirley) Another reason I have not read the book is that Kathy Davis (of
Intruders) and I became very close friends and I'm not ready to deal totally
with what happened to her. We have never discussed our individual cases when we
get together. ga
(Ted) Don is up then Ted <me> then Dale ga DON
(5,DON) Shirley, during any of these experiences have you ever received any
explanation of "WHY" I mean, why the genetic experiments and perhaps why are
they here? Anything? ga
(5,Shirley) I can't answer that. I was told something, but I'd prefer not to
say. ga
(5,DON) What was the last part, ran off the screen
(5,Shirley) prefer not to say.ga
(5,DON) WHY
(5,Shirley) There are things we have to keep secret so we can compare to other
cases. And we don't want other people picking up the same story. As for example
Budd Hopkins always holds certain things back in order to validate information
coming from other cases. ga
(5,DON) !!!!!!???!!!!1
(Ted) Don Follow ?
(5,DON) Yes. Ok Shirley, for years this is one of the things that have split the
UFO fraternity, everyone has a secret. Right now I am researching a paper
concerning the aspects of the phenomenon that have proved both dangerous and
deadly. Going back in the 40 years that this has been investigated there have
been dozens and perhaps hundreds that have been harmed or even died while being
involved with this subject. Now a week after talking to Hopkins, and it is
obvious that he does not believe that they are harmful,. however this does not
seem to be the case. Now this forum is for the exchanging of
information, and hopefully the truth. If you have an insight as to what you
believe may be behind this mystery, don't you think you owe it to the forum and
MUFON to share it? ga
(5,Shirley) We guess like everyone else. They are in control. We have NO
control. As to the question of WHY I'll go this far. They told me that they
needed our help so that they could breed love and compassion into their race
they have no intention of harming us. They have caused pain to people they have
abducted, but when they were aware of the pain they eased it for us. ga
(Ted) Apparently they do not feel pain themselves? Also What kind of self help
group are there? and finally. Can I call you during the day this coming week? GA
(5,Shirley) We have formed an abductee support group in MI that meets monthly
yes you can call anytime.ga
(Ted) Do they <the Greys> not feel pain? ga
(5,Shirley) I don't know. I suspect that they do not.ga
(Ted) Dale has been very anxiously <but NOT patiently> waiting GA DALE
(5,DON) Dale is off line
(Ted) Oh No! MIB's! Ok anyone else at this point GA
(Ted) George have you anything to add? Have you had an experience yourself?
(5,George) Mainly on Sept. 23 of 1983, and again on April 19 of 1986. I have had
two encounters within 75 feet. They stopped my pacemaker and I had to have the
pacemaker surgically removed both times each time much dead tissue was removed.
ga
(Ted) Was the pacemaker ever analyzed as to the cause of failure? I know a
little about this area to know that the manufacture would be almost paranoid
because of potential product liability suits if one of their units failed. GA
(5,George) There was nothing wrong with the pacemaker my surgeon is convinced
that microwave caused it to shut down and caused the burned tissue around the
device.ga
(Ted) Were you near any Microwave radiating equipment? Also, if it happens
again scream LAWSUIT. You'll get plenty of in depth analysis of the unit.
Microwave once maybe, but twice... I dunno. GA
(5,Drax) (Listen, I know a good law-yuh...)
(5,George) there were no microwave sources in my home or in my presence at
either of these times. I'm firmly convinced that because of the timing of both
incidents, the ufos were to blame. I cannot blame the manufacturer. There are
too many unnecessary law suits as it is. ga
(Ted) Yes, I know, but if you want to get an in depth and VERY detailed look at
the failed unit then complain to the manufacture. GA
(5,Gerry) !
(5,Drax) !
(5,George) The only thing I want to do is get answers from the ufos. Each time I
try to get them (ufos) to talk to me. So far they have chosen not to, as far as
I know. ga
(Ted) Gerry is up then DRAX GA Gerry
(5 Gerry) Aside from the fact that there were no appliances nearby were there
are other problems with the uwave idea not that it really matters but this could
either be a case of the well-known stoppage of electrical and electronic gadgets
but for the first time with organic tissue around them or a case of a directed
energy of some kind possibly meant to kill you. ga
(5,George) I absolutely reject the theory that they were(].?-_##W#
o##/O5 to me. They came around us after I was injured. But they seemed to be
aware and subsequently kept a greater distance.ga
(5,Gerry) ok, but there is still the first thought. That now we know a bit more
about what is happening to devices that stop Namely there is a lot of heat or
other energy in their immediate vicinity. ga
(Ted) Ok is up GA DRAX
(5,Drax) We mentioned lawyers before and I know George seems adverse to the idea
of suing but I am aware of at least one project going on right now to try and
sign up as many qualified trial attorneys as possible who would be willing to
work pro-bono. (that means FREE!) or at least for drastically curtailed fees on
a lawsuit against the govt. related to UFOs specifically charging that the
govt. is not doing its job in protecting us from an outside menace. I think if
such a project gets off the ground, citizens like yourself, George and Shirley,
might want to consider joining such a suit. GA
(5,George) Shirley is the one who has a legal complaint. The national tabloids
have quoted her many times, without benefit of interviews or permission to use
her name or picture. And they sensationalize facts that were in the original
interview from the Washington Post for example. ga
(5,Drax) Go for it, Shirley! But I assure you, you have a complaint as well,
George. GA
(Ted) We could go on for hours (and we have!). I want to thank Shirley, George,
and finally DBC for his time and effort in bringing us the Coynes this evening.
I hope that Shirley and George will join us again. It has been absolutely
fascinating! Also Jim and I are going to be roomies at the MUFON conference in
Lincoln and we want all you to know that we will be organizing a gathering
during the conference. Hope you can all make it. Any comments Jim?
(5,Drax) PARTY!!!!! Bring your best vis and your best party favors!
(Ted) <No MIBs Please!>
(5,Drax) Look for the Speiser/Markley room!
(Ted) The dynamic duo will prevail!
(5,George/Shirley) We want to say we've enjoyed it and would like to return
again sometime. Also we look forward to meeting you all in Lincoln.ga
(Ted) Great!
(5,Drax) Be seeing ya there, G & S!
(Ted) Thanks again and we hope to see you all soon.
(5,George/Shirley) We are bringing 14 in our motor home from MI.ga
(5,Mike) Good night Ted
(5,Drax) Nite everyone, its been fascinating!

SUBJECT: COMPUSERVE CON WITH GEORGE & SHIRLEY COYNE FILE: UFO1414
*********** The Issues Forum 12/10/89 19:58:55
Ted | Tonight we are fortunate to have as our special guests...
| Shirley and George Coyne (with Bert acting as a local host.)...
| The Coyne's are not new to our forum as about a year ago they...
| were guest in a similar Sunday night session....
| For those of you who were not there the transcript is in LIB 10
| under COYNE.CO. Shirley is an Abductee and was mentioned in...
| "Intruders". Tonights CO will be formal and I will...
| start out with a brief on-line interview...
| Shirley, at our last CO you were plagued with survailence by...
| "Black Helicopters" is that still going on? ga
SHIRLEY | ok...
| Funny you should mention that. At about 5:00 pm tonight...
| a black helicopter flew slowly over our trailer....
| It is interesting that George had told several people on
| the
| phone that Bert was going to be here around that time.
| However, Bert
| did not arrive until 5:30. So he did not see it. George did get
| some photographs of it. Hope they come out. It was low
| enough to see
| the special insignia that we now recognize. Also a few
| months ago...
| we were working with some abductees who were scheduled to be...
| at our place at 7:00 pm. The copter showed up at 6:45 and
| hovered for 45 min. The people had had a previous experience with the
| copter and turned and ran when they got here and saw it. GA
Ted | Ok...
| What do you think the significance is of the helicopters? Has...
| you opinion changed since our last CO? ga
SHIRLEY
| We still think it's the NSA as determined by their telling...
| Senator Reigle to "bow out". GA
Ted | Please explain. ga
George | ok...
| We had written to Reigle and he wrote letters to CIA, NSA and
| FBI...
| trying to get them to cease harrassing us. FBI told Reigl that...
| they were not interested in George and Shirley Coyne as ...
| investigative subjects. And the NSA said that they were...
| not interested in George Coyne as a subject. And the next day...
| Sen. Reigle closed the case. GA
Ted | Ok...
| Any new sightings/experiences since our last CO? ga
Shirley | We have not had any. But there have been a number of new
| abuductees....
| found who are waiting for help (regression). GA
Ted | Ok...
| What is your advice to others who might find...
| themselves victims of the abduction phenomenon? ga
Shirley | ok...
| First we reassure them that we don't feel that any
| intentional...
| harm has been exhibited, in order to set their minds at ease.
| ...
| If they are not having any problems coping, we advise them to
| ...
| leave it alone. Because once they embark there is no turning
| back. GA
Ted | Ok....
| I will now open the floor to general questions GA People!
Bill | ?
Ted | Ga Bill
Bill | Shirley, I hope I'm not wasting the group time by asking for
| conjecture...
Bill | but...It has become quite apparent to me over the years...
| that intelligent interests in our government work very hard...
| to go WAY out of their way to make it bizarrely obvious to
| people...
| that they are under sr
| surveillance. Would you care to offer...
| a guess as to why?? What is their goal in this? And why do
| you think...
| your problems are NSA?? If the CIA didn't respond negatively
| to Reigle, maybe it's them.
| ..
| Besides, they are more often involved in the...less passive
| aspects of intelligence/ GA
Ted | GA Shirley
Shirley | ok...
| perhaps they are afraid we are being given secrets...
| that might get in the wrong hands. We think it was NSA
| because...
| Reigle closed the case the day after he heard from NSA. He was
| probably...
| told to drop it. This was before he heard from CIA. Again the
| CIS said...
| they were not interested in this. GA
Terry | ?
Ted | I am sure
| you ment CIA not CIS....
| GA Terry
Terry | Shirley, can you describe thew chopper's insignia?
| ga
Shirley | ok...
Ted | GA Shirley
Shirley | It's an approximately two foot white circle...
| with a small black circle in the middle of it. GA
| Also...
Terry | On a black chopper?
Shirley | the chopper is black with black windows, no numbers...
Ted | Does that strike a familiar note Terry? ga
Terry | No....do you measn a white disk with a black circle on it...
Shirley | no letters....insignia is on left side partially on door and
| "nose" .ga
Terry | or a black circle withina white circle?
Shirley | ok...
| It's a black solid circle within a larger white circle. GA
Terry | Thanks,. ga
julie | /
| ?
Ted | Have you had a personal encounter or abdcuvtion since...
| our last CO? ga
Shirley | No we have not. ga
| Our last abduction...
Ted | Ok, Julie is next
Shirley | was August of 83. ga
julie | What do you think the purpose of the copter is--just letting
| you know they're watching?
Shirley | ok...
| we think they are trying to scare us out of the field...
| because we do so much public speaking on radio, TV,
| newspapers...
| private groups, etc. ga
julie | are you being scared at all?
Jack | ?
Terry | ?
Shirley | We are more scared of the government than the "aliens". ga
Ted | Jack is next
Jack | Ok...
| After reading several of the "abduction books" out on the
| market...
| it seems that a common thread is the continuing (and previous
| from childhood)..
| activity or interest by the abductors. Is this the case with
| most...
| abductees (including yourselves) ? ga
Shirley | Yes...
| GA
Terry | ?
Ted | Terry GA
Terry | If the chopper photos come out...
| will copies be available? ga
Shirley | Sure...
| we also have a video from a previous encounter....
| this on occured during a Michigan MUFON meeting with 54
| attendees. ...
| We watched the video a number times that day during meeting. GA
Terry | How can I get a copy? ga
Shirley | I'll see if I can have a copy made. Will try to get it to you
| through...
| Bert. ga
Terry | Thanks. ga
Ted | Shirley, Jack talked about the "common threads" from
| childhood...
| can you tel us about your early childhood expereinces? ga
Shirley | ok...
| In my first experience I was 9 years old. I was taken from my
| bedroom...
Bill | ?
Shirley | after my mother shot at them a rifle. I was taken aboard the
| craft...
| put through a painful examination. I encountered on
| particular...
| entity that I know as Ooulaad. I have encountered the same
| "individual"...
| on a number of occassions since that particular abduction. Not
| all...
| of my experiences have been painful, and they have not all
| been...
| bad. The experience in 1983 was a healing experience. After
| that...
| experience I was cured of a life long bout with Lupus and
| Addisons Disease. ga
Ted | Ok, Bill is next ga
Bill | Shirley, I'm undergoing hypnosis with David Jacobs..,.
| and I've recalled a number of abductions so far...
| I feel emotionally calm, but I am not ready to accept...
| the regression "memories" an anything other than fantasy yet.
| How do you...
| distinguish the two and how long did it take you/or does it
| take...
| most folks without a conscious contact experience, to accept
| the "memories"
| as reality? I have a second ? too, if there's no line. GA
Shirley | ok...
| first outside of Budd Hopkins, you probably could not do better
| than...
| David Jacobs. He is one of the best....
| David should be able to make a reasonable judgement as to
| what...
| is fact or fantasy. It is very common...
| to feel that it's fantasy during the first few sessions....
| it's also harder for men to accept the experience than women....
| because men are brought up to feel more in control. ga
Terry | ?
Bill | GA Terry
Ted | Ok, Bill any follow up? ga
Terry | Shirley, did any of your experiences o cur...
| near St. Augustine, Fla? ga
Shirley | One of my encounters when I...
| was 17 was in Orlando, Florida. I think Bill had a followup
| question. ga
Bill | OK< sorry Terry...
| Ted wanted me to ask about a thing I had on my finger...
| It is a conscious memory, vivid. I came home as a kid &
| walked...
| in the house and there was this thing attached to my finger...
| It was opaque, and yet you could not see the bottom...
| It had the consistency of flesh or rubber, was on the end of...
| my 2nd or 3rd finger from the thumb...
| and had lots of little tiny glittery specs in it...
| It could not be dislodged and I had no idea where it came
| from...
| My parents noticed it first. Two weeks later, just before a
| scheduled...
| doctor's visit to examine it, it disappeared the same way. No
| memory..
| my parents noticed it first. Ever heard of such an external
| "implant?" GA
Shirley | ok...
Richard Salts: (5-11 Richard) I a
Shirley | I haven't really heard of anything like that. How big was it? ga
Ted | Ok...
Bill | It was the width of the finger, was towards the end...
| Like a super big blister, I guess, but I'm not...
| sure of the size of my fingers at the time. It had no sense of
| ...
| feeling or touch unless I tried to pry it off, then I felt the
| pull...
Terry | !
Bill | on the skin underneath. Under hypnosis, I recalled it being ...
| applied. First, little holes were made in the skin, and then
| an...
| adhesive was applied in the score marks and on the thing. GA
Ted | I have heard of something like that twice now (other than
| Bill)..
| First time ws fro, Budd Hopkins and the "Glittery" implant..
| was in a young boy's chest. It "popped" out and broke...
| and was described as "mica" like in substance. The second...
| time occurance was also on the finger. At this point I can't
| recall...
GEORGE FORD: ?
Ted | where I read it. But it was in the last 6 months...
| I will check! GA Terry
Terry | Nothing, just a silly thought. ga
Bill | !
Shirley | !
Ted | Nothing is silly here GA
Terry | I'm silly almost everywhere, Ted. I just thought it sounded
| like a ...
| wart.
| Sorry. ga
Ted | Ah! A Mica filled "wart." Ok, GEORGE is next GA
GEORGE FORD: DID ANYONE SEE THE MOVIE COMMUNION? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON MOVIE? GA
Ted | Ok..
| George we are having a formal CO...
| with Abductee Shirley Coyne as a guest...
John | Hi, all!!
Ted | after we get through the formal; part we can talk about...
| general experiences. GA Bill
Bill | ok
| I just wanted to clarify a detail I provided about the
| "thing."...
| The tiny holes scored in my finger were painless, and done with
| a chrome-
| like hook thing. Glue was dropped in there, and then the
| adhesive that was...
GEORGE FORD: YES
Bill | placed on the "thing" was actually placed.
| ...
| on the RIM of the circular thing. This made it impossible...
| for me to get anything underneath it and pry it off. It
| wouldn't budge. GA
Ted | Ok...
Jack | ?
Alf | ?
Ted | Interesting! Shirley did you have a comment? ga
Shirley | ok...
| I have heard of situations where when the people came...
| out of the craft, they had some sort of glitter on their body.
| I have...
| not heard of the "attachment" procedure you describe. ...
| This past week right after a series of "dreams" that George and
| I...
| both had, we discovered a small yellow ball a little larger
| than...
| a beebee....
| it is very light and scored. I have tried to cut it with a
| knife...
Terry | ?
Shirley | and took finger nail file to it. I could not mark it at all.
| The three...
| of us are sitting here looking at it right now. It would be
| interesting...
| to get it analyzed. ga
Terry | ?
Ted | Yes it would...
| Bert, as a scientist what does it look like to you? ga
Bert | ok...
| It looks pretty much like Shirley described. It sort of looks
| sort...
Jack | ?
Bert | of like a pearl, however it has some grooves in it....
| when we look at it under a magnifying glass, it looks sort of
| like...
| are you ready for this....
| a small "brain" <grin>. GA
Terry | ?
Ted | Ok...
| (I'll refrain from comment.) GA Jack
Jack | ok...
| Does the ball float ? Is it magnetic ? Also, Shirley have you
| verbal...
| communication with the individual you named ? ga
Bert | ok...
Shirley | We are testing it right now for flotation. Hang on...
| OK, it does not float. It dropped like a rock...
Terry | ?
Shirley | We are surprised because it is so light. ga
Jack | ga Terry
Terry | Where did you find it?
Shirley | ok...
Terry | ga
Shirley | It was in the living room besides George's chair. We are...
| noticing right now that exposure to the water resulted in...
| a change in color, from yellow to white. It also now seems to
| be...
| acquiring some "glitter". ga
Jack | ?
Bill | !
Ted | Ok..
| Alf is next GA Alf
Alf | ok...
Jack | sen 4 Bert It should be easy to measure density/specific
| gravity in the water
Alf | Shirley, among abductees has anyone reported memories...
| of creatures that look like "elf"s (for lack of a better
| analogy)...
| but not like those creatures that Strieber reports ? ga
Shirley | Yes...
GEORGE FORD: ?
Shirley | we are aware of "creatures" (I saw one myself)...
| 3 and a half to 4 feet tall...
| brownish yellow hair about 4 inches long....
| and they are stockier than the "grays"...
| they sometimes wear a brown hooded cloak. When I saw it, George
| and...
| another abductee were in the room with me, and they did not see
| it. ga
| He laid his hand...
Shirley | on my shoulder and then disappeared. ga
Ted | Tery is next. GA Terry
Alf | !
Terry | I asked mine and was answered, Ted. ga
Bill | ?!
Ted | Ok.. GA ALF
Alf | thx...
| Shirley , what you just said was NOT comforting! ..what did...
| you mean it 'disappeared' ? (that I didn't expect you to saY!)
| ga
Shirley | ok...
| it was just as if it moved out of our dimension into another.
| The...
| same way it probably came in. ga
Alf | ?
Shirley | I know it's hard to swallow, but it's the truth. ga
Ted | Ga Alf
Alf | Was it in your room , your home? ga
Shirley | It was in the home...
Alf | !
Shirley | of an abductee that we were interviewing. ga
Ted | Ok..
Terry | ?
Ted | Bill is next. GA Bill
Bill | ?
| OK...
| Is glitter still appearing? What color(s) are showing up?..
Shirley | ok...
Bill | My both appeared and disappeared on uneventful walks home from
| the...
| local swimming pool, so I was wet at the time. GA
Jack | ?
Shirley | After holding the round thing, were are all noticing now...
| that there is a little glitter on our hands. The thing is
| still...
| it's changed color (white). It now seems to have a few ....
Jack | !
Shirley | small black specks in it. ga
Ted | Ok..
Bill | F-U?
| That's follow up, not profane FU
Ted | The order is: Alf, Terry and Jack GA Alf
Alf | thx...
| the reason I brought up the 'elf' issue is a 'dream' that I
| had...
| and I always brushed it off although it was so...
| REAL. I had just finished taking a shower and returned to...
| my room. Sitting at the end of the bed I noticed after a few...
| moments the presence of a very small person at the head of
| the...
| bed. Dressed in all white. Looking at me with his round eyes
| with...
| no white part to them, slighltly parted mouth with pure white...
| teeth. He had whispy whiskers, whitish/grey and grey hair...
| skin was like someone from India but skin of a baby!...
| I then heard a noise like someone was pushing an enevelope
| under my door...
| and when I turned around he had gone! It took quite a while
| tho...
| and I was able to observe him very well...
| even made sketches of it/him...
| ga
Ted | OK. Terry then Jack. GA Terry
Terry | About these little creatures, Shirley....
| Could you see them if you looked directly at them...
| or only peripherally? ga
Shirley | ok...
| Yes I was looking directly at him and saw him clearly. ga
Terry | Okay. Thanks. ga
Ted | Ok..
| Jack GA
Jack | ok...
| Shirley, are there any plans to have the ball analyzed. I would
| be very...
| interested in the results. ga
Bill | ?
Shirley | ok...
| we were just talking about that. We will try to find a lab.
| Maybe...
| Bert can help us on this. ga
Jack | ok...
| I think I would document and photgraph it (and maybe )...
| do some simple tests, just it case it gets "lost". ga
Shirley | Good points. ga
Ted | GA Bill
Bill | This seems to be a ? that comes up...
| over and over again. At the risk of getting my...
| "file" reactivated, shouldn't MUFON or CUFON or whoever...
| select a scientific volunteer panel to study various aspects...
| of precious physical evidence?? People you trust. GA
Shirley | ok...
| MUFON is actually in the process of doing that for exactly...
| that purpose. ga
Terry | ?
Ted | GA George
GEORGE FORD: thx...
| Shirley, concerning your abductions experiences...
| what do you think of Mr. Streibers works...
| since he is / was foremost a fiction writer.. of war storees,
| etc. ga
Shirley | ok...
| we know Mr. Streiber well...
| he is primarily a writer and has a good imagination....
| he told us that when he couldn't make any more money in ufos,...
| he would go into something else. Evidently, channelling. ga
Ted | Did he say channeling or is that your conclusion? ga
GEORGE FORD: i had some trouble reading transformation, seemed so far
| from mainstrea.
| ga'
Terry | ?
Shirley | Transformation was stories from other people...
| based on letters he received. ga
Bill | ?
Ted | Did Strieber say he would go into channeling? ga
Shirley | He did not tell us...
| but he has told other people that his next thing...
GEORGE FORD: ?
Shirley | would probably be channelling. ga
Ted | Ok...
| Terry is next ga
Terry | Shirley, do y'all have an aquarium?
| ga
Shirley | No pets. ga
Terry | Okay. ga
GEORGE FORD: ?
Ted | Bill is next GA
Bill | Oh, sorry...
| I was going to ask if WS was being serious or funny. ..
| Of course, you can channel aliens and get 2 for 1 . That's all
| GA
Terry | ?sen 10 Well, she's been describing a snail egg...
Ted | Ok..
| GA GEORGE
GEORGE FORD: thx...
| Shirley, what has been said to abductees concerning...
| prophecies, and general timing for ufos appearance to all? ga
Bill | ?
Shirley | ok...
| Most of the abductees that we deal with feel that...
| ufos will eventually be coming en masse. ga
Ted | GA BILL
Bill | En masse with hostility or to rescue us or as tourists??..
| and, Is it common for abductees...
Alf | !
Bill | to WANT to interact with the "others" and to...
| obsess years before thinking of this seriously about
| interacting with the,m? GA
| ga
Shirley | ok...
| first they are necessarily coming as hostile visitors, but
| they....
| are coming for their own purposes. This comes up while people...
| are under hypnosis and the people are usually shoced when
| they...
| realize this. ga
Terry | ?
Ted | Ok.. GA ALF
Bill | FU?
Alf | perhaps if we could time their coming...
| just right we might be able to ...
| make a bundle at Wall St! ga
Ted | GA Terry
Shirley | NOT necessarily hostile (correction). ga
Terry | Shirley, do they have any apparent weaknesses that you've
| noticed?
| Physical or mental? ga
Shirley | ok...
| I think they fear our size and strength and that's why...
| they contol us. Perhaps WE are the hostile ones. ga
Alf | !
Ted | Ok...
GEORGE FORD: !
Ted | Bill is next witha (F)ollow (U)P [FU] - sorry about the ..
Bill | I've already asked it in private, but I never..
| did really get an answer about my "obsession" with them..
Ted | missunderstanding Bil) GA Bill
Bill | for years before I ever...
| considered hypnosis or seriously that I may have been abducted>
| GA
Ted | Ok GA Alf
Bill | Is that common, Shirley? GA
Alf | ok...
| perhaps indeed we are the hostile ones, but...
| size and strength never seemed to favor the Gorillas in
| Rwanda...
| and we might be talking here of a space faring
| civilization(s)...
| so much farther ahead of us than we of the Gorilla. ga
Ted | Good point Alf. ga
Shirley | True. ga
Ted | GA George
GEORGE FORD: thx...
Bill | !
GEORGE FORD: we might be as in Zecharia sitchin's "Wars of Gods and
| Men"...
Terry | ?
GEORGE FORD: are we created, prodigy of these people, have got in fight
| with them in past? ga
Shirley | ok...
Ted | Comments George and Shirley? ga
Terry | ?
Shirley and George: ok...
| There is a possibility that they were involved with the ancient
| Sumarians....
GEORGE FORD: ga
Shirley and George: or some other group...
| and contributed to our more modern evolution. ga
Ted | OK, GA Bill
Bill | As a child, I would go outside with a flashlight...
| shine it up at the stars...
| and say "I know there are people up there....
| Come and visit me. At least let me see you. Fly by ONCE.!"...
| This was YEARS before seeing UFO books in school or any of this
| stuff. Is this...
| type of early conscious manifestation of a history usual ?? GA
Shirley and George: ok...
| Yes, this is common. I (Shirley) used to sit on the step when...
| I was five and look up at the sky and be angry...
| and ask why they brought me here. And said why don't you come...
| back and get me. ga
Bill | ?
Terry | ?
Ted | GA Terry
Terry | You think they fear our size and strength; what about....
| our weapons? Have they expressed any interest in....
| gun control?
| ga
Shirley and George: They're not afraid of out weapons. ga
Ted | GA Bill
Bill | But is an emotion of lonliness and longing for them...
| usual as well as fear and anger? And do you feel...
Terry | ?
Bill | you are genetically or socially or spiritually partially with
| them...
| and not with the remainder of Earthly humanity?? GA
Shirley | ok...
| Longing and loneliness is very common...
| at some point in your experiences you seem to get over....
| your fear and anger and beging to grow spiritually. I don't...
| necessarily feel that I am "with them", however, I also feel
| that....
| I don't belong here. I don't feel that I belong to the people...
| that I call my family. ga
Terry | ?
Ted | GA Terry
Terry | Do the aliens show any sign of having, recognizing or
| understandxing...
| a sense of humor? ga
Shirley | Yes...
| when I was 9 years old, during that experience, I said I...
| don't know what the word unique is when he used it. He patted...
| me on top of the head and chuckled and said that he would...
| teach me many things. ga
| They can also show anger. ga
Ted | Ok...
| Any other questions? ga
Bill | ?
Alf | ?
Ted | GA Bill
GEORGE FORD: ?
Bill | How many times have you been hypnotized in total by now?
Ted | GA Shirley
Bill | GA
Shirley | ok...
| about 15 times. ga
Ted | GA ALF
Alf | ok...
| you said, Shirley, that they can show anger...
| now that sounds very threatening! How have they...
| manifested anger? to you? others? reason? ga
Shirley | ok...
| the being got angry with me because he told me what to do ...
| to help George with a heart problem. It frightened me and I
| jerked...
| my hand away, and he grabbed my hand and put it back...
| on George's chest. And was angry with me and told me...
| that "I would do it". He told me to put my left hand on...
| Georges chest and it felt like an electric shock. That is
| what...
| frightened me. George was having chest pains and trouble
| breathing. ...
| The result was that George's problem eased up. ga
Ted | GA GEORGE
GEORGE FORD: ok...
| Shirley, the aliens responses to the abductees..commanding,
| anger...
| makes them seem god-like,,any abductee msessages concerning...
| religious tie-ins, to any earth relighions, reincarnations> ga
Ted | Any others? ga
Shirley | ok...
| The beings have told us that reincarnation...
| is a fact. As far as religion goes, the beings have told us...
| that we are all of one "supreme being". ga
GEORGE FORD: ?
Ted | Ok...
| It is getting late and I would like to thank...
| Shirley and George Cpyne for being our VERY special...
| guest tonight. Also I would like to thank Bert for...
| traveling to the Coynes' and acting as our local..
| host in Michigan. Any final comment Shirley or George? ga
GEORGE FORD: send 4 that we are like an atom in some larger existence
| "dimension?"
Shirley and George: ok...
| It's been great. Thanks for having us on...
Terry | !
Shirley and George: we would be happy to do it again in the future. ga
Ted | Ok..
Bill | Thanks Shirley & George& Brt & Ted. See ya
Ted | Thank you! Anyone who might have other questions can direct
| them...
Alf | Thanks Shirley and George, Bert, Ted and others...bye
Shirley and George: Night all.
Ted | via EMAIL to myself or Bert or post them on the message board...
| Nite All! ga
Terry | Nite.

SUBJECT: TRUE MAGAZINE SAYS SAUCERS ARE FROM SPACE FILE: UFO1415
From the Las Vegas Review-Journal, December 27, 1949
"INTERPLANETARY SAUCERS" BOSH, SAYS AAF
NEW YORK, Dec. 27 (UP) - True magazine said today that "informed
authorities" believed that "flying saucers" are "interplanetary
vehicles" manned by spacemen from a distanr civilization more
advanced than on earth.
Concluding without reservation that "flying saucers are real,"
True said it learned that "a rocket authority stationed at Wright
Field, Ohio has told ...(air force) personnel flatly that the
saucers are interplanetary and that no other conclusion is
possible."
Wright Field officials, however, did not support this view.
"The air force material command has been working very closely
with intelligence on the whole matter of flying saucers," a
spokesman said.
"We probably have the most complete file on saucers anywhere."

SUBJECT: GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTATION OF UFOs, A HISTORY FILE: UFO1416
MUFONET-BBS NETWORK - MUTUAL UFO NETWORK
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Contributed by: Georgia MUFON
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HISTORY OF THE GOVERNMENT'S DOCUMENTATION OF UFO'S
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The history of the official documentation of UFO's began in 1948 when the U.S.
Air Force created "Project Sign". The following year this was reorganized in
to "Project Grudge", and then into "Project Blue Book".
The purpose of "Project Blue Book" was to investigate and evaluate UFO reports
within the United States and at it's stations and properties in other countries
with regard to any potential threat to national security, whether from foreign
powers or from outer space. Critics claimed that the project lacked a
scientifically qualified staff and that it was simply a "cover-up" operation
meant to reassure an alarmed public.
"Project Blue Book" proved to be quite effective, however. During it's 18
years of activity it allumulated more than 12,600 reported cases in its files,
almost all of which were eventually explained as mistaken natural phenomena or
as known aircraft. But 701 sightings remained classified as "unidentified".
In 1966 the U.S. Air Force sponsored an independent, stepped-up investigation
of UFO's by a team of scientists from the University of Colorado headed by Dr.
Edward U. Condon, a prominent physicist and former head of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science. Of the 59 cases they selected for
serious study during the next two years, 23 eluded explanation. In his final
report, in 1969, Condon nevertheless concluded that a total of 21 years of UFO
study had added nothing to scientific knowledge and that "further extensive
study" was not warranted. He said, "it is safe to assume that no ILE
[intelligent life elsewhere] outside of our solar system has any possibility of
visiting earth in the next 10,000 years." To date, no one has determined the
basis for Condon's estimate.
Following publication of the Condon report, the U.S. Air Force agreed that
UFO's posed no threat to national security and that there was no evidence the
sighted objects were of extra- terrestrial origin. "Project Blue Book" was
then terminated, and all of it's files were declassified. But the fact that
other documents on UFO's remained classified prompted a few private UFO
investigative groups to press for their release on the ground that the public
is entitled to know all.
Even today many UFO buffs believe that the real investigation of UFO's was --
and is -- being secretly conducted by high-level government personnel. But at
this time only private organizations are involved in serious research. Among
the membership groups the best known are The Mutual UFO network (MUFON),
founded in 1969; The National Investigation Committee on Aerial Phenomena
(NICAP), founded in 1956 in Washington, D.C.; and the Aerial Phenomena
research Organication (APRO), founded in 1952 by Jim and Coral Lorenzen. A
highly regarded organization is the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS), founded in
1973 by astronomer Dr. J. Allen Hynek, who for years was scientific
consultant to "Project Blue Book". By 1982 CUFOS had ammased a computerized
list of 70,000 reported sightings from all over the world. About 80 percent of
these were easily explained and dismissed; the other 20 percent remain subject
to further explanation.
Other countries, notably France, Britian, and Australia, also have civilian
organizations that collect and seriously investigate UFO reports. Although
awareness of the phenomenon is kept alive solely by private enterprise, reports
of unidentified flying objects from all over the world continue to accumulate
and further compound the most elusive mystery of our time.
Some information has been released through lawsuits under the Freedom of
Information Act, but most experts agree the government is still suppressing
most of what it knows. Classified documents buried in musty government files
show the government was aware of UFOs patrolling our skies as early as 1942.
The documents, heavily edited, deal with reports compiled by the U.S. Air Force
and its Office of Scientific Investigation (OSI), the FBI, the CIA, the
National Security Agency and at least a dozen government-financed hush-hush
units.
Most of the documents support independent investigations made over the years by
civilian researchers into sightings and close encounters. "We know there are
more detailed and substantive reports of sighting and encounters buried in
secret government files that have not been released on the grounds that they
constitute a risk to the national security of the United States," says Gerald
Inserra, a physicist and former NASA employee.
Among other things, the documents hint of a secret agreement between the U.S.,
Britian, France, Germany, Russia and other nations to keep confirmation of UFO
sightings and other incidents relating to UFOs secret from the public.
Despite the official government position, first formalized with the U.S. Air
Force's "Project Blue Book", that UFOs are hallucinations and UFO researchers
are little more than kooks, several of the secret documents clearly show the
government not only believes UFOs are real, but that they might pose a threat
to our security.
The late J. Edgar Hoover ordered FBI agents to investigate all UFO reports
because he feared they might be hoaxes instigated by the Russians to undermine
American morale. Later memos from Hoover suggested he was shifting toward the
view of the National Security Agency, which warned that the United States
should "prepare itself for an invasion from outer space."
ParaNet is pleased to announce the apppointment of Don Ecker as Director of
Network Security. ParaNet has experienced phenomenal growth and the need for
this has become very apparent. Don, sysop of ParaNet Alpha-Delta, has been
appointed Director of ParaNet Network Security. Ecker is a veteran of Viet
Nam, having served 26 months in SouthEast Asia with Special Operations. Upon
returning to the States, he returned to college and after a year at school
applied to the municipal Police Department and was accepted. Leaving after a
year, he rejoined the private sector and entered business in the world of
finance. After several years he returned to police work, and after serving as
a uniformed officer was made a detective, and became a criminal investigator.
In 1982 he first became aware of the mutilation phenomenon when called upon
to investigate several cattle mutilations. While involved in a SWAT TEAM
exercise in 1986, he was wounded which led to his medical retirement. While
recuperating he became interested again in the UFO enigma, and was soon
convinced that the best way to investigate it was to treat the subject like a
criminal investigation. Joining MUFON, he was asked to serve as a State
Section Director and Investigator. Learning of ParaNet in 1987, he joined as
an assistant sysop with the old ParaNet RHO. During additional investigations
of cattle mutilations occurring in Idaho, the first of a number of cases of
what appeared to be "human mutilations" came to his attention and resulted in
investigations into this bizarre area of research. Ecker has written articles
for UFO Magazine, reported news and written book reviews. He spoke on his
research in mutilations at the 1989 MUFON Conference, has lectured on the
subject before numerous organizations, and appeared on both radio and
television programs speaking on the phenomenon. Security is a vital concern
for any type of network such as ours. I ask you to extend a warm welcome to
Don.
If you are ever on Highway 6, just outside of the little
town of Tonopah, Nevada, and you can brave the heat, the
rattlesnakes, and the isolation of the desert, get out of your
car and wait. If you are patient enough you just might be amazed
by what you'll see.
At first you'll only hear it, a high-pitched whining sound
in the distance. Risking eye damage, you squint into the desert
glare trying to locate the source of the sound. Suddenly you'll
see it. It's an ominous-looking aircraft, perfectly flat on the
bottom, pyramidal on the top.
Roaring across the high desert with its twin tail and swept
back wings, it looks like a large black swallow. As it gets
closer, you'll feel the urge to duck down among the lizards and
the cacti. Such action is meaningless, though, for if you can
see it, it can see you. So just stand and watch the Nighthawk go
through its paces.
Since the beginning of the year, the F-117A Nighthawk
stealth fighter has been engaged in daylight training missions
from its secret base in Nevada. Still considered off limits to
the press and public, the security forces at the base take a dim
view of prying eyes. However, once in a while the Nighthawk must
leave its protective nest.
It is on these rare occasions, when the Nighthawk is not
surrounded by razor wire, patrolling dogs or security teams, that
is when you might catch the F-117A strutting its stuff.
The secret Tonopah base is part of the Nellis Air Force Base
military operations area. This secret range, which covers a
large portion of south central Nevada, is the home of the Air
Force's top secret proving grounds. Edwards Air Force Base was
once the premier testing center but now is considered too public
to test top secret stealth aircraft. The F-117 base on the
northwest corner of Nellis is remote and removed from all but the
most determined.
The F-117A Nighthawk is the official name of the stealth
fighter bu those who fly it have nicknamed it "The Wobbly
Goblin." At slow speeds, the fighter is apparently hard to
handle, hence, the odd title. Another term for the aircraft is
"the sacred airplane" because when people see it for the first
time they usually remark "Oh my God!"
A total of 49 are thought to be based on the Tonopah range,
also known as Mellon Strip. The secret base, located in Area 30
on the Nellis range, consists of 72 nuclear hardened, specially
built hangers for these secret aircraft.
The pilots who fly the F-117 are members of a new elite
unit, the 445th Tactical Group. Most of the pilots first flew F-
111 Aardvarks or have Wild Weasel experience. The special unit,
known as "Team One-Furtim Vigilans" (vigilant by stealth) became
operational in 1983.
Becuase of the secret nature of their missions, the pilots
are not allowed to acknowledge to civilian air traffic
controllers what type of craft they are flying. If asked, they
are to say they are an A-7 Corsair.
Team One squadron is not the only squadron flying strange-
looking aircraft on the Tonopah range. The 447th test and
evaluation squadron, the Red Eagles, is based there as well. The
Red Eagles fly authentic Soviet fighters. Captured in
Afghanistan and turned over to the U.S., Mig 17s, 19s, 21s, 23s,
25s, 27s and Sukhoi Su20 Fighters are flown regularly in Nellis'
Red Flag war games.
Occuring almost every eight weeks, the Red Flag exercises
are conducted in much the same way as the Navy's Top Gun school
is used to train USAF pilots in dissimilar air combat tactics.
What better way to train than against real Soviet fighters? To
add to the realism, the Nellis range even is dotted with real
Soviet air defense radars and SAMS (surface to air missiles) to
give training pilots the feel of the real thing.
There is yet another secret base located in the middle of
Nellis. Groom Lake, in an area called Dreamland, is known to be
the test base of the mysterious Aurora and the F-19 stealth
fighter. The Aurora, the stealth replacement for the SR-71
Blackbird and the F-19, the stealth replacement for the F-15
Eagle, is said to be flying from the Watertown Strip.
Teh Air Force has reportedly been testing the two top secret
aircraft in Dreamland, Area 51, since 1980. (The SR-71 Blackbird
was test flown in complete secrecy.) Other aircraft likely to be
test flown from Dreamland in the near future are prototypes for
the ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter), the Phalanx Dragon, a
stealth helicopter killer, and the A-12 (Navy Advanced Tactical
Aircraft), a replacement for the A-6 intruder.
Although the bulk of stealth aircraft operations seem to be
centered around Nevada, it is said that stealth aircraft have
been seen at other bases as well. Last April the USAF said the
F-117A would be used at bases nationwide to help integrate thge
stealth technology within the rest of the Air Force inventory.
The F-117A has been seen flying near Yuma, Arizona; Edwards AFB
in Calfiornia, and Kadena AFB in Okinawa.
Recently it was rumored that F-117s are being stationed at
the recently opened Roswell Air Force Base in New Mexico. The
Roswell strip was constructed originally for heavy bombers during
WWII and Vietnam but closed in the late sixties. Residents of th
area report that strange aircraft are once again slying out of
the base. The White Sands missile range is not far from Roswell
and the F-117A may be using the range to test the stealth cruise
missile, General Dynamics AGM-129.
Another black aircraft program by General Dynamics known
only as Project 100 is even more secret ahtn all other stealth
programs. Little is known about the project except that it is
thought to be test flying out of Holliman AFB near Alamagordo,
New Mexico, and only at night. A military radio net has been
heard on various frequencies in the Holloman area (see frequency
list) and it may be the testing of the Project 100 aircraft.
MONITORING
Trying to monitor the secret air force is nearly as hard as
catching a glimpse of them. Best bets are the HF and UHF
frequencies of the flight test bases and aircraft manufacturers.
Also, a good place to monitor would be SAC and TAC frequencies.
Another good place to listen is air traffic control centers near
test areas.
So get cracking, heat up your set, and maybe you'll be the
first to monitor the top secret Aurora and F-19!
EMP REPORT
PENTAGON TO CURTAIL ELECTOMAGNETIC TESTS
(Environmental Impact Study Required for Experiments
Involving a Type of Radiation)
SPECIAL REPORT: WFBR 1300 AM - BOB OECHSLER
We've been reporting our investigations over the past several
weeks into the activities surrounding the Bay Bridge UFO Sightings
in Annapolis and our inquiries into the possible interest these
UFO's might have in this area.
Our theory was that perhaps they may have more than a
passing interest in the EMP tests (electromagnetic pulse) that we
discovered were being conducted in the area. It was reported
that MORE THAN A MILLION FISH WERE KILLED in the Chesapeake
Bay during one of these tests early this year. We reported that
a suit had been filed in federal court against the government to
stop the testing. Discussions with officials at EPA resulted in a plea
of ignorance. An official with the Navy indicated that the EMP
tests were probably the result of degaussing of ships in the Bay.
Today in the Washington Post it was announced that The Defense
Department, under a legal agreement reached Friday night, must
stop or moderate its electromagnetic pulse experiments at
laboratories in Maryland, Virginia, Alabama and New Mexico
until the government determines whether the energy is harming
people and wildlife.
The article goes on to say that electromagnetic pulse (EMP)
is one type of radiation generated by nuclear explosions. The
Pentagon has been simulating EMP to determine how to protect
the circuitry in its planes, tanks and ships from being disabled
by it. The Soviet Union, according to duscussions with the Pentagon,
is far along on a "zap gun" that would use EMP radiation to kill
troops and disable vehicles, and the Pentagon is interested in
developing a similar weapon.
The Justice Department, representing the Pentagon, reached the
agreement this weekend with the Foundation on Economic Trends,
an environmental group that sued on the grounds that the
experiments were proceeding without the government first assessing
their potential harm. The foundation had taken steps to question
two employees of a Woodbridge, Virginial laboratory constructing
EMP generators, about their environmental concerns and the
alleged suppression of documents when the Justice Department
suddenly decided to settle the case.
The settlement states that the Navy's EMP facilities at Patuxent,
Maryland Naval Air Station must be operated at low voltage, not
more than one kilovolt per meter, until the environmental risks
are assessed. AND the Navy's Empress I EMP simulator in the
middle of the Chesapeake Bay may not be operated at all until
the impact of its pulses is assessed. The projected Empress II
pulse generator can not be built unless the Pentagon first
files an environmental impact statement.
What impact will this have on UFO activity over these areas?
Only time will tell.
SUBJECT: UFO DEFINATION FILE: UFO1420
unidentified flying object
--------------------------------
An unidentified flying object (UFO) is an unusual aerial or potentially
airborne object that cannot be readily identified even after expert analysis of
the available data in the report of the object. Approximately 90% of raw UFO
reports are interpreted as misperceptions of conventional objects, hoaxes, or
hallucinations. The remaining 10% constitute the UFO enigma. The date of the
earliest UFO sighting is unknown. Some UFO researchers believe that there were
UFO sightings in ancient times. The evidence for such sightings, however, is
scanty and therefore purely speculative. Most UFO researchers date the
beginning of the UFO phenomenon with the sighting of dirigiblelike "mystery
airships" over the United States during 1896-97. The next significant group of
reports came during World War II from Allied and Axis pilots who reported
seeing strange metallike objects, which they called "foo fighters," in
controlled flight around their planes. In 1946 people in Europe, particularly
Scandinavia, reported large-scale sightings of silent "ghost rockets." None of
these phenomena has been satisfactorily explained.
The UFO phenomenon entered public consciousness on June 24, 1947, when private
pilot Kenneth Arnold reported sighting nine circular objects flying across his
airplane's path in the skies over the state of Washington. He described their
movements as being like "saucers skipping over water" and the term flying
saucer was born.
Since 1947 there have been UFO sightings in nearly every country. Occasionally
the number of sightings rapidly increases and a UFO wave ensues. For instance,
UFO waves occurred in France and Italy in 1954, in New Guinea in 1958, and in
the USSR in 1967. In the United States, waves occurred in 1947, 1952, 1957,
1965-67, and 1973. UFO researchers have been unable to predict or explain UFO
waves. Attempts to link them to media publicity about UFOs, hysterical
contagion, or "societal stress" have proved unsuccessful. Although intensive
publicity has prompted people to report sightings they had previously made,
such publicity is not considered responsible for new reports.
The number of UFO sightings is great. In 1973 a Gallup poll indicated that 11
percent of the adult population in the United States had seen what they thought
was a UFO. So far more than 50,000 worldwide sighting reports have been
computerized. A study of these reports suggests that UFO sightings are random,
and no pattern of UFO witnesses has been found. Witnesses cut across economic,
class, racial, and educational lines. A greater percentage of reports, however,
have come from people living in rural areas than from those living in urban
areas. The reasons for this disparity are unknown.
Witnesses report a great variety of sizes and shapes of UFOs, including
amorphous and changing-shape objects. The classic "two bowls joined at the rim"
shape is reported often, but reports of objects shaped like cigars, squares,
balls, triangles, rings, and hats are also common.
The majority of reports are of objects seen at great distance, but reports of
close observations also exist. Some of the most intriguing reports are of
objects seen on or near the ground. Often the person claims that the object
left a residue or mark on the ground. Such a sighting is called a "trace case."
Sometimes the object is claimed to have had a physical effect on an electrical
or mechanical device, causing television interference or automobile engines to
stall.
Claims of witnessing the occupants of a UFO have come from sober, reputable,
reliable people. These reports must, however, be separated from those of the
infamous "contactees," who in the 1950s claimed ongoing contact with "space
brothers" who often gave them flying-saucer "rides" to other planets. UFO
researchers regard contactee claims as spurious.
The U.S. Air Force attempted to study the UFO phenomenon from 1948 to 1969
through its Project Blue Book. After collecting reports for 21 years, it
concluded that UFOs did not represent a threat to the national security, and it
could find no evidence that UFOs were of extraterrestrial origin. In 1953,
however, the Central Intelligence Agency suggested that the USSR might be able
to use "flying-saucer hysteria" as a psychological warfare weapon against the
United States. Therefore, from 1953 to 1969, the U.S. Air Force was concerned
mainly with the incidence of UFO reports and never seriously considered the
idea that UFOs per se might represent anomalous or unique phenomena.
Other institutions and scientists have also confronted the phenomenon. A 1953
study by the Battelle Memorial Institute resulted in inconclusive findings.
From 1966 to 1969 the University of Colorado conducted an extensive study of
UFOs.
The project director, physicist Edward U. Condon, concluded that UFOs did not
represent a threat to the national security and were not anomalous; several of
the staff scientists, however, strongly disagreed with his conclusions. In
recent years scientific interest in the subject has grown, but adequate funding
for another scientific inquiry has not yet materialized. Scientists and
academicians have used their own time and funds to study UFOs, but progress has
been slow and difficult. Until a systematic, impartial, and long-term study of
the problem can be developed, UFOs are likely to remain one of the most
puzzling mysteries of our times. DAVID M. JACOBS
